Unrecognizable! 20 Years After Quitting Acting, Bridget Fonda Spotted In Rare Outing

The reclusive actress was photographed looking extra comfy in her oversized sweater ensemble. For her errand day, Fonda wore her hair in a messy ponytail and didn't have a stitch of makeup on her face. The laid-back look is a dramatic change from her glamorous looks in the past.

While Fonda didn't interact with the paparazzi, the 59-year-old mom of one had a slight smile on her face while she was snapped walking from her car to the store.

In January 2022, Fonda was also photographed driving around LA and briefly stopping for errands. She was sporting a striped t-shirt and black sweatpants, with a makeup-free face and a casual ponytail.

Some people were shocked to see the actress in her current state and were ruthless in their comments on Twitter. "I want to remember her as she looked in her film career," one person wrote.

While there were unforgiving comments, many people defended the Jackie Brown star. Some even applauded her for embracing aging naturally, unlike other Hollywood celebrities.

Fonda left Hollywood after surviving a near-fatal car crash back in 2003. She was 39 years old at the time and miraculously walked away with only cuts and bruises, while her car was totaled from the rollover crash on the Pacific Coast Highway.

While she recovered quickly from the car crash, she developed a back injury, which eventually prompted her to quit her career.

As reported by the NY Post, Fonda lost control of her Jaguar, and the car flipped and tumbled downhill. According to police, she may have been driving too fast on the rain-slicked roads.

The same year of her accident, Fonda got married to Oingo Boingo frontman Danny Elfman. A year after getting married, they had a son, Oliver, who is now 18 years old.

The two have kept their relationship very private and are reportedly still together. While Elfman doesn't post about his family on his Instagram account, there have been no public reports of separation or divorce.

Following the accident, Bridget slowly stepped away from the limelight. She never formally explained her retirement but it was speculated that the crash, along with her new family life, all led to the decision to leave Hollywood.

Coming from a prominent Hollywood family, Bridget has been in the industry since she was young.

Bridget's father is actor Peter Fonda and her grandfather is Oscar-winning screen legend, Henry Fonda. Film icon and fitness guru Jane Fonda, 85, is her aunt.

Fonda made her acting mark in Hollywood throughout the '80s and '90s. She starred in several big hits, including Quentin Tarantino's crime film, Jackie Brown.

Her biggest hit came when she starred in her first leading role in the 1992 thriller Single White Female.

Her last role was in the TV film Snow Queen in 2002, just a year before she chose to step away from acting.

In an interview with Movieline back in 1993, Fonda spoke about what it feels like to be part of such an esteemed family name in Hollywood.

“I wonder what it would feel like to know that you’ve made it completely under your own steam. I sometimes wonder if I would be more at peace if I could know I made it by myself, instead of always wondering how many times my name got me in the door.” NY Post reports.

Fonda's last red-carpet appearance was back in 2009 when she attended the premiere of Inglorious Basterds with her husband.
