Cameron Diaz, 50, Likely Won't Ever Do Another Movie After Difficult Jamie Foxx Film

Since coming out of retirement, the Sex Tape actress has been working with fellow star and longtime pal Jamie Foxx on a new movie, and from inside sources, the actress has been putting in long hours.

DailyMail stated that according to the insider, Diaz is struggling with the long work hours which keep her away from her spouse, Benji Madden, and their three-year-old daughter, Raddix.

Diaz and Foxx have been working together on an action comedy titled Back In Action, and recent updates showed that the latter experienced a meltdown on set. Foxx was said to have fired three people on the movie set in the United Kingdom.

In retrospect, a source close to Diaz made it known that the Bad Teacher star did not hold any grudges against the Ray actor, but there was a possibility that she won't be returning to any movie set after the project is done.

The insider noted that Diaz has had a hard time being away from her loved ones. She was also said to have hated the "drama and confrontation," that often comes up on movie sets.

The insider told the publication that the back-to-back 10-hour workdays were taking a toll on the 50-year-old actress. The source revealed, "These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her and she hates being away from Raddix. Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world."

When Diaz decided to return to the entertainment industry, her music star spouse was supportive. However, according to the insider, the demand from her job has also taken a toll on him. The source described the punk rock artist as supportive of everything his wife does.

The Mask actress decided she was done with the movie industry back in 2018, and fans saw her settle more into family life. However, since taking the significant decision, she has been open about her reason. In 2020, Diaz joined Gwyneth Paltrow on her In goop Health show where she revealed how she took the decision to retire.

Diaz made it known that being a public figure at the Hollywood level was intense. She relayed that when one is mainstream in the entertainment field "there's a lot of energy coming at you at all times when you're really visible as an actor and doing press and putting yourself out there."

After describing how it felt, the What Happens In Vegas star relayed that she often felt the "overwhelming energy of the attention," and this was the turning point. Diaz noted that she did a bit of soul-searching.

She included, "I really looked at my life and I saw that...when you;r making a movie it's a perfect excuse, they own you." She noted that this often takes up one's time and you hardly have time for anything else.

Amid her soul search, the movie star realized she had "handed off parts of my life to all these other people..." It dawned on her that it was time to take it back. She reiterated the same sentiments in a 2021 interview with Kevin Hart. Diaz stated that she just wanted to make her manageable in her own way.

Away from Tinsel Town and its hustle and bustle, Diaz started a family. Diaz met her spouse Benji in 2014 through his sister-in-law and mutual friend, Nicole Richie. Richie is married to Benji's twin brother and fellow singer, Joel.

The rom-com icon thought her spouse was "hot," the first time they met, and it was even more encouraging that they hit it off right from the start. The couple was engaged within a few months and they got married in 2015.

One year after the blonde bombshell retired, she and Benji welcomed their first child together. They announced the baby's birth in January 2020, but reports showed that Raddix was born in December 2019. At the time, Diaz and her spouse ushered in the new year with their adorable addition. 

During her chat with Hart on Hart to Heart, the Charlie's Angels star opened up on feeling "whole" after she began to manage her time on her own terms. She added that she and her spouse started a family, and all the things she did not use to have time for, fell into place.

Having started motherhood amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Diaz got to experience motherhood on a different level. She relayed being a mother prepared her for the pandemic. She once shared on an Instagram live session when Raddix was about three months old, that she had been living a life similar to quarantine due to her baby daughter, so it was easy to adapt.

The star, who described her husband as an amazing father, stated that the caveat on going outdoors was a difficult situation, but she enjoyed the quality time with her young family. Diaz noted that she loved the bubble they lived in.

Staying away from Hollywood for about eight years was quite fulfilling for the Shrek star, but she did miss what used to be her day job. She revealed to CBS Mornings that she missed "aspects of acting, or making movies."

An insider told People that Diaz was ready to go into acting again, but she just needed a push. Luckily her husband was there to give the required support. The source relayed that Benji encouraged Diaz to "unretire."

Despite wanting to be back on the big screen, Diaz was cautious about not getting sucked in or engulfed by what made her leave in the first place. According to the source, she did not want acting to "overtake her life as it did before."

With her return to Hollywood, Diaz had to find a way to balance her working-mom life. Speaking of this, she revealed that everyone had 100 percent supported her decision, and the most important part was to find a way to split it into the important aspects.

Besides returning to the movie industry, Diaz co-founded and runs a wine company. She was inspired to co-create her Avaline wine company when she learned wine is often filtered through animal bioproducts. This spurred her to strive for wine that vegans can also have.
