Raising Khai: Gigi Hadid's Journey As A Young Mom

The 27-year-old model recently opened up about her journey as a young mother-of-one. Hadid talked about raising her daughter, Khai while speaking with The Sunday Times. In the article published on Sunday, the model shared that she loved being a young mother.

However, Hadid revealed she had never been obsessed with the idea. During the interview, the model also shared that her two-year-old daughter has given her so much. She continued that she has always been organized, about each stage in her life.

Gigi relayed that having Khai at the time that she did was a blessing. The model welcomed her daughter with her ex-boyfriend Zayn Malik in September 2020 at her 32-acre farmhouse in Pennsylvania At the time she gave birth, the supermodel was surrounded by her loved ones including Zayn and her mom, Yolanda.

Still, during the interview in the article published on Sunday, Hadid talked about why she goes out to the countryside. The model has an apartment in New York. However, she spends a lot of time in her farmhouse.

Hadid revealed she goes to the countryside to protect her daughter from the paparazzi. She added that their presence was suffocating. Hadid added that what bothers her is if she would have little experience with Khai because she wants to protect her.

The young mom hardly shares pictures of Khai on her Instagram page. However, for the toddler's first birthday, Gigi honored the milestone with a series of snapshots presenting her adorable daughter.

This was not the first time Hadid has opened up about her journey as a young mom. In September 2022, the fashionista gushed over motherhood when Khai became a toddler. This was during her interview with Willie Geist on Sunday Today in 2022.

During the interview, Hadid told Geist that she thinks Khai was a genius. She added that the more her daughter talks, understands, and remembers, the more fun it is. The model also added that Khai was a blessing. 

Hadid spoke about her motherhood journey during one of her media rounds to promote her clothing brand, Guest in Residence. After talking about Motherhood with Geist, the model appreciated everyone who helped her with her brand.

In August, Hadid announced she was trying her hand as a fashion designer. The mother-of-one is now also the founder and creative director of her brand's new line of knit apparel. The model launched her Knitwear line in New York at the L'Avenue at Saks. 

Here is a look at the relationship between Khai's parents, Zayn and Hadid. The duo first met in November 2015 and started sparking dating rumors in November 2015. At the time, Gigi had attended an American Music Awards after-party.

Although Zayn was not at the event, he was said to have dropped by to pick her up after the party. By December 2015, the couple made their relationship Instagram official. In a now-deleted snap, Zayn flaunted their then-budding love.

In January 2016, Hadid and Zayn appeared in his music video for Pillowtalk. In April 2016, the A-list couple had their first fashion shoot together in Vogue. The couple also made their first red carpet debut in May 2016 at the Met Gala. 

Hadid and Zayn had an on-again-off-again relationship. The couple broke up three times before finally calling it quits. The first break-up was in June 2016. This had been a month after their red carpet debut. At that time, a source said that they were having issues in communication and getting along.

The source also noted that the breakup might not be for long. True to their words, Gigi and the former boxer did mend the fence. A month later, the couple got back together. The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills kid confirmed this in a romantic post on Instagram.

Zayn would later open up about how he asked Gigi out when he appeared on Sirius XM's Hits 1. He noted, "I just asked her. It was pretty straight up. I just asked her if she wanted to go on date. I was in New York." By January 2017, Gigi also gave inside info on her relationship.

She spoke about their typical date night. She noted how they indulged in arts, cooking, late-night moves, and ordering in. They also did a joint Vogue cover in August 2017. In March 2018, the A-list couple broke up again.

This time there was an official touch to it, as Gigi took to Twitter to break the news in a lengthy address. She noted that she would keep supporting him as a friend. Zayn also released a statement concerning their breakup. However, the duo was spotted being heavy on the PDA in New York a month later.

This had happened in April and by the following month, an insider stated that the pair were not back together, but Zayn had been trying to win her over again. Five months later the couple got back together. The third time they split was in January 2019.

A source revealed that they were done, but the possibility of them getting together again, was there. According to the insider, Gigi would often cut herself off from her friends whenever she was with Zayn, and focus all her energy o him, but it became too much for her. Zayn and Hadid later got in touch in November 2019 and welcomed baby Khai in 2020. 

The doting mom shared the birth story of Khai. It was shared when she was a cover for Vogue's March 2021 issue. Hadid and Zayn welcomed baby Khai at home in Pennsylvania after a 14-hour labor.

The model told the publication that she was so tired and Zayn caught the baby. Hadid and Zayn originally planned to give birth in New York. However, they later decided a home birth was the best.
