Woman Tells Her MIL She Doesn’t Care What She Thinks After She Criticized Her For Celebrating Mother’s Day With Her Biological Children Only

It’s hard to understand what a person goes through after the loss of their beloved spouse. And when you add kids to the mix, things get even more complicated. “My relationship with my MIL has been complicated to say the least,” shares a woman on the AITA subreddit who married her husband when he had two children. The author’s stepkids, 7 and 5 years old at the time, “detest my best efforts.” And the woman suspects it’s “because they see it as I have been around since before they can remember and with them not remembering their mom, I’m mom or at least a mom type.” The tension seems to have spilled into how the stepkids see their own children. “This year I took my kids to the beach for the day and had some good food and relaxed,” the author wrote. But it seems that her MIL was not happy about it. “She told me it was wrong to not even give my stepkids a chance to show up or call, that it looked bad,” the woman recounted.
