The beginning of the year was made even better by Paris Hilton's recent announcement that she is now a mother to the infant son, Phoenix.

Paris never made it clear when she would like to start a family, but after her lavish wedding, she had previously stated she would love to start a large family, so the news wasn't so surprising after all.

They Welcomed Their Baby Via Surrogacy

Last month, Paris and Carter Reum opted a surrogate to give birth to a boy named Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum.

On Keeping Their Pregnancy Journey A Secret

Many aspects of his birth have been purposefully kept private, and the couple's families were only informed of the baby's arrival just before Paris and Carter shared the news on Instagram.

On Freezing Her Eggs

In an interview with Glamour UK, Paris revealed that she decided to freeze her eggs in her late 30s to start a family, independently.

On Her IVF Journey

“I went and did the one round of IVF because Kim [Kardashian] had told me about it. So I had eggs frozen,” Paris said.

Then Carter Came Along

Things changed, though, when she started dating Carter and the coronavirus pandemic broke out.

“Carter and I had already been talking about the future, and then the world was shut down, so I was like, ‘What do you think about us making embryos?’” she continued. “And he said, ‘Yeah, let’s do it.’ And we’ve done it seven times… I have all boys. I have 20 boys.”

What She Would Call Her Baby Girl

Paris also noted her interest in having a mini-me like her.

“I just went through the process again a month ago, so I’m waiting for the results to see if there’s any girls," she added, noting that she would like a girl (whom she plans to name London).

Talking Her Friends Advice

Regarding surrogacy, she admits that Kim's advice also influenced the decision.

“Kim told me about that [surrogacy] as well,” she added. “I’m using the same doctor, Dr. Huang, who’s the best, and he has a concierge team that deals with everything and interviews the people [the surrogate] to make sure that they’re healthy. And we’re in the process of everything now, so it’s a lot.”

Was Her Age The Reason She Opted For Surrogacy?

When asked if her decision to use a surrogate had anything to do with her age, Paris responded that she would have done so in her 20s had it not been for the abuse she endured at Utah's Provo Canyon School.

Her Traumatic Experience In Provo

“I’m just so scared, I think, again, leading back to Provo, of even being in a doctor’s office, just all of that. The shots, the IVs that they put in," Paris explained.

What She Was Subjected To In The School

Paris claims that the school allegedly collected blood samples from her. In other parts of the interview, she claimed that while enrolled in such behavioral modification programs, she was punished by being placed in "solitary confinement" in a room with "blood on the walls, feces, and urine" for refusing to take the prescribed medications.

She added that she was held down and had digital penetrations during "late-night gynecological examinations."

Why Childbirth Is Scary For Paris

Paris continued,

"I had to be in a room when a woman was giving birth when I was in The Simple Life, and that traumatized me as well."

On Wanting A Family

"But I want a family so bad; it’s just the physical part of doing it. I’m just so scared… Childbirth and death are the two things that scare me more than anything in the world.”

She added.

The Big Reveal

Last month, Hilton revealed on Instagram that she and her husband, Carter Reum, secretly welcomed Phoenix, their first child, into the world. She was shown holding the infant's hand in the post.

Getting Well Wishes

She captioned the post;

You are already loved beyond words 💙

Of course, it didn't take long before family and friends flooded her with congratulatory messages.

Why She Kept Her Son's Face Away

She recently explained why she hesitated to show a photo of her son's face on her podcast; This Is Paris.

Keeping It Private

“We’re just so excited to start our family and can’t wait for you to see him, but for now we've just been keeping everything really private,” she explained in her podcast

Her And Carter's Moment

“No one knew, literally, until he was, like, over a week old. So it was really nice just to have that with Carter, (have) our own journey together.”

She said.

Kept It Away From Her Family

According to the reality star, not even her mother, Kathy Hilton, nor sister, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, were aware that the child had been born.

Paris Wanted To Keep Her Family Away From The Public

“I just feel that my life has been so public, and I’ve never really had anything just be mine,” she added. “I just really felt that I wanted to have this journey with us only.”
