Ashton Kutcher Causing Confusion Over His 'Awkward' Photos With Reese Witherspoon

Ashton recently shared a good explanation for why he looked slightly strained at a recent red carpet event. The explanation came after pictures of Ashton and his co-star, Reese, posing together on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of their movie went viral.

In the pictures, Ashton stood next to Reese, having a very serious expression with his hands tucked in his pockets. Not long after the pictures made it to the internet, fans took to social media to call the actor out for looking awkward and uncomfortable.

One Twitter user said he had been laughing all day at the premiere photos. Another user referenced Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac's chemistry while promoting Scenes From A Marriage, even though they were married to different partners.

The tweep noted that movie stars playing romantic leads needed to go to Jessica and Oscar's school of promotion. Surprisingly, Ashton's wife, Mila Kunis, also called them out for their lack of chemistry.

During an appearance on the Chicks in the Office podcast, Ashton said his wife, Mila Kunis, texted him and Reese, telling them to act like they liked each other. The actor then opened up about the reason for his actions. 

Ashton disclosed that if he had put his arms around Reese or acted all friendly with her, he would have been accused of having an affair with the actress. The star then noted that standing next to Reese and putting his hands in his pockets eliminated the chances of false rumors spreading.

Although Ashton's explanation seemed quite logical, it confused fans, who took to Twitter to share their thoughts. One fan tweeted that there wouldn't have been such rumors as it was standard practice among actors promoting their rom-coms to display chemistry.

A second Twitter user noted that nobody was asking the co-stars to make out, but seeing that they were in a romantic comedy, they should have at least been goofy or had banter.

Other users pointed out the time Oscar kissed Jessica's arm on the red carpet, noting that it was one of the reasons their romance series sold. Overall, fans were unsatisfied with Ashton's explanation. Meanwhile, the actor is yet to comment on the reactions.
