'Learning to Live Without': Priscilla Presley Mourns Loss of Daughter Lisa Marie on her Birthday

Priscilla has been heartbroken since her daughter's passing but felt more pain yesterday as it was supposed to be a celebratory moment. She wrote an open note to her late daughter detailing her intent for the family in the wake of Lisa Marie's passing.

Priscilla's letter started by expressing a wish to protect her three grandchildren - Riley Keough, 33, and the twins, Harper and Finley, 14 - and keep the family together. The 77-year-old described her life as a mother, saying she's always been a protector who cared for Lisa Marie and her brother until now.

On Lisa Marie's first posthumous birthday, Priscilla described how she's living with a broken heart now that her only daughter is no longer alive. The final line in the Instagram post spoke of eternal love for the late singer and gratitude to the fans and friends for standing by the family.

The actress recently described life without Lisa Marie as a painstaking journey that is getting harder now that money matters are involved. Priscilla filed a petition disputing the contents, authenticity, and validity of Lisa Marie's will.

The document left all of the singer's properties, including Graceland, to her surviving children, Riley, Harper, and Finley (Benjamin died by suicide in 2020). As the eldest and only legal sister, Riley Keough is the de facto sole trustee until her sisters come of age.

Priscilla alleges that there are discrepancies with the signature in the final will, especially because she was once a joint trustee alongside Lisa Marie's former partner, Barry Siegel. However, that was before Lisa Marie cut ties with the partner and her eldest daughter, Riley surpassed the legal age in 2016.

Per People, the singer wrote a first will in 1993, then amended it in 2010, including Priscilla and Siegel as trustees. However, once she discovered the latter was mismanaging her funds, Lisa Marie made a codicil in 2016 naming all her children as the sole trustees.

Representatives of all the parties involved haven't responded to requests from the media. The family intends to resolve this issue quietly. Meanwhile, Harper and Finley are in the center of a custody battle between their grandmother and father.

For now, the cause of death is ruled as an apparent heart attack while the family awaits the results from the Chief Medical Examiner's office.
