Kim Kardashian may slowly be climbing her way up the ladder of being a vintage piece collector and has added another valuable vintage item to her expansive collection. An iconic piece of jewelry that belonged to the late Princess Diana now calls Kardashian's closet home.

The reality TV star made the expensive purchase through a recent Sotheby's auction. The purple cross pendant belonged to the late Princess Diana and was previously a part of the late Naim Attallah, a Palestinian-British businessman and writer collection.
The amethyst pendant was projected to go up for about $80,000 to $120,000. But the business mogul outbid other interested buyers to end the call at a whopping $197,000.
The cross was made by jewelry manufacturer Garrard who lent Princess Diana the piece in 1987. She wore it with a black velvet dress to a fundraiser held by Garrard.
Attallah's son, Ramsay Attallah, revealed Diana wore the amethyst pendant many times before she passed away in 1997 after which Attallah acquired it, and no one has worn it since.
"When I was growing up, we’d always have it on the table for Christmas lunch, but it was never worn by anyone other than Diana and it hasn’t been seen in public since she died."
The bright and expensive piece contains square-cut amethysts and circular-cut diamonds weighing about 5.25 carats. The historical piece is now with Kim, who has a penchant for collecting clothing and jewelry previously owned by world-famous figures.
The SKIMS founder previously purchased three jade diamond bracelets that belonged to Elizabeth Taylor in 2011. It was sold at a Christie's auction and was created by Lorraine Schwartz and was projected to go up for $8,000, but the mogul splurged about $64,900 on it.
Schwartz is a close friend of Kardashian as well as Taylor.
She repeated the same feat in 2017 when she paid $379,500 for Jackie O's watch.
Still in the business of buying expensive things, the fashion icon splurged about $5 million on the famous Marilyn Monroe dress she wore on President Kennedy's birthday in 1962 and even sang a birthday song to him.
In her quite controversial manner, the 42-year-old wore the dress to the Met Gala, which sparked a backlash from social media users who rumored the mom of four damaged the dress.
However, the museum has come out to clear up the rumors, stating that the dress was returned in perfect condition as the star only wore it for barely 5 minutes on the red carpet. She wasn't able to add the dress to her personal collection.
