Channing Tatum Reflects on What He’s Learned About Himself Since His ‘Super Scary’ Divorce

Before going out with Kravitz, Channing used to be married to Jenna Dewan, whom he met during Set Up's filming. The couple dated for three years and married in 2009; however, ten years later, they decided to go their own ways and get a divorce.

The Magic Mike star revealed the reasons for his previous divorce from Dewan while talking to Vanity Fair. It was a decision from both sides, as they realized they had grown out of each other and became more aware of their differences.

"I think we told ourselves a story when we were young, and we just kept telling ourselves that story, no matter how blatantly life was telling us that we were so different," Tatum added. He also explained that parenthood opened both their eyes as it was a challenge they faced together.

Tatum and Dewan had a daughter, Everly, in 2013, and was born while he was filming Jupiter Ascending. Since the moment he became a parent, he's been very open about his fatherhood skills and how important family is to him.

Even though Tatum now believes the divorce was the right choice, he still acknowledges it was a tough time for him. He commented, "This whole plan that you had literally just turns into sand and goes through your fingers and you’re just like, "Oh, s**t. What now?”

Channing took the time to focus on his daughter and even wrote a series of children's books inspired by her. Sparkella was born during the pandemic, and it's now in the talks for a live-action movie.

"When I became a single father, I had a lot of fear about connecting to Everly in every way that a little girl might want. … I didn’t wear nail polish or know how to braid hair. But now I do both," he added while talking to Parents Magazine.

Still, he started dating Zoe Kravitz in 2021, after they worked together in P***y Island and have been one of Hollywood's favorite couples since. However, Tatum said he doesn't think he will be getting married anytime soon; he stated, "Relationships are hard for me. Even though I am a bit of a monogamist."

Meanwhile, he's just letting his relationship with Kravitz flow as they grow together while he prepares his upcoming role as Sam Wheat in the remake of the 90s classic Ghost, and the premier of the third Magic Mike movie.
