Damar Hamlin has been released from the hospital one week after suffering a cardiac arrest. Fans are delighted to hear of the Buffalo Bills star's progress - Damar is now out of the Cincinnati, OH facility offering him care.

Damar, 24, suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch last week and had been resuscitated on the scene.

The NFL player was then transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and was released today. He'll continue his recovery in a Buffalo hospital, per doctors reporting on the athlete's case.

Doctor Says He's 'Doing Well'

"I can confirm he is doing well and this is the beginning of the next stage of his recovery," Dr. William Knight of U of C said. Damar, meanwhile, has taken to social media.

Damar Says He's Headed Home

Damar wrote, "Headed home to Buffalo today with a lot of love on my heart," as he took to Twitter. "Watching the world come together around me on Sunday was truly an amazing feeling. The same love you all have shown me is the same love that I plan to put back into the world n more. Bigger than football!"

The Collapse

Hamlin had collapsed to the shock of his peers and the crowds while making a tackle on Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. He received over 30 minutes of medical attention on the scene before he was taken to the hospital. Damar was initially in the ICU as he was put on a ventilator.

Thanking The Docs

Damar also tweeted, "Grateful for the awesome care I received at UCMC. Happy to be back in Buffalo. The docs and nurses at Buffalo General have already made me feel at home!"

The athlete has also been updating fans since being well enough to communicate over the past week. His fans, meanwhile put on endless displays of support while also praying for his recovery.

Onwards And Upwards

Fans are now hoping that Damar's physical and mental strength will continue to contribute to his astounding recovery. This time last week, the player was in critical condition. On Thursday of last week, he was reported to have made significant improvement and had opened his eyes and been able to grip the hands of his family.

Damar has also launched t-shirts to support the hospital that treated him. "We all won. I want to give back an ounce of the love y'all showed me," he wrote, gushing over the support.

The Bills Show Him Love

In a striking display of support, Damar's team, the Buffalo Bills, entered the field carrying flags supporting him. Two flags, carried by a player each on both sides, say "Pray for Damar 3." Meanwhile, a third player carries a red and blue-striped flag with just the number 3 on it.
