By yesterday, the figure sat at $4.7 million, however more donations have since poured in for the Buffalo Bills safety and the GoFundMe is now at $5 million. The Toy Drive was set up to buy toys for kids during the holidays.

Got Up Before Falling Down

Per reports from the event, Hamlin initially fell down to the ground before getting up. He then collapsed and has been deemed to have suffered a cardiac arrest.

His Words

Speaking in the past about the Toy Drive, Hamlin said: "Just seeing role models in person. I feel like that's big in kids' lives and that's something that we haven't always had in Pittsburgh," adding:

"Just being younger and seeing the difference from some people that had that role models in their life."

'Thankful' To 'Give Back'

The athlete touchingly added: "It could be you all you have to do is just work hard, stay focused. I'm thankful that I can even be in this position to give back."

What Happened

Hamlin was surrounded by team members and opposition on both sides and was treated by medical staff members for 16 minutes before being immobilized and rushed off the field. Photos showed players from both teams shocked as they watched what was happening. The Daily Mail noted "tears." The NFL then postponed the game.

Family 'Deeply Moved'

In a statement following Hamlin's hospitalization, his family said:

“On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time,” adding: "We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans around the country.”
