Ex-Jacksonville Jaguars Offensive Lineman Uche Nwaneri Dead at 38

Several reports state that Uchechukwu Nwaneri, a retired football player who once played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Dallas Cowboys, passed away on Friday, December 30th, 2022. He was 38 years old.

The former offensive guard was in the home of his wife in West Lafayette, Indiana, when she found him unresponsive in the bedroom. Nwareni's wife immediately called 911.

Preliminary Autopsy Reports State Nwareni Suffered From Heart Failure.

The results indicate that Nwareni most likely suffered from heart failure at the time of death, according to the Lafayette Journal & Courier.

There Were Also No Signs Of Foul Play.

It seems, according to the Journal & Courier, that Nwaneri's death was a tragic accident.

Nwaneri's Parents Immigrated To The US From Nigeria In 1973.

Nwaneri was born in Dallas, Texas in 1984. He was given the name Uchechukwu Nwaneri, meaning "God's wish" in his parents' native tongue.

Nwaneri's Football Career Began At Purdue University.

He played on the team but was suspended in 2005 following an altercation with teammate Ryan Noblet.

A Former Agent Released A Statement Regarding Nwaneri's Death.

"Uche was a great person," Jordan Woy, his former agent, told CowboysSI. "He was a very interesting person and had deep, valued and informative thoughts on sports, politics and life."
