Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin Given On-Field CPR After Serious Injury

Damar Hamlin, Buffalo Bills safety, is front-page news after collapsing during a game and receiving CPR on the field. The 24-year-old athlete is now said to have a "pulse" but not breathing on his own following his shock incident after colliding with Bengals receiver Tee Higgins - the Buffalo Bills were playing the Cincinnati Bengals during Monday Night Football.

Collapses On Field

Per The Daily Mail, Hamlin collapsed and got his feet, but then fell again, where he lay motionless. Medical teams quickly came to assist and an ambulance arrived at the field within four minutes of Hamlin's collapse.

CPR And Taken To The Hospital

Hamlin received CPR before being intubated at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. As of 9.20 p.m., the Bills player had a pulse. Per a FOX19 correspondent, he was not able to breathe alone.

Family With Him In The Ambulance

The 6'0", 200-lb. player was hurried to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center two miles away from the stadium. Hamlin's parents, mother Nina and father Mario, came down from the stands to accompany him to the hospital. The league has also released a statement.

Statement From The League

An NFL commissioner stated: "Tonight’s Buffalo Bills-Cincinnati Bengals game has been postponed after Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin collapsed."

"His vitals are back to normal and they have put him to sleep to put a breathing tube down his throat. They are currently running tests," friend and marketing rep Jordon Rooney said. "We will provide updates as we have them."

Thoughts With Him

The NFL statement continued: "Hamlin received immediate medical attention on the field by team and independent medical staff and local paramedics. He was then transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition."

Emotions Run High

Tensions were high, both with worry over Hamlin's well-being and for the game, overall. At the scene, Hamlin was seen with his uniform cut away as medical personnel attended to him.

A Promising Player

Pennsylvania-born Hamlin was drafted in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL draft following his games for the University of Pittsburg. As a three-year starter at Pitt, he led the team with 67 tackles.

Fans Praying For Him

Hamlin's Instagram doesn't yet mention the accident; however, fans are seemingly very aware of what's going on. "Praying for you brother," one user wrote.

Turning To God

Another fan prayed high, writing, "Lord, please stay with him and his family as he fights through this, and with your mercy and the power of prayer please allow him to heal."
