2022 took its toll on many celebrities as it was the year of people's return to normalcy after the hectic pandemic years (2019 - 2021), and Drew Barrymore is opening up about surviving the year. Two years ago, the actress launched her talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, and experienced tremendous success against all odds.

PEOPLE featured Barrymore as the cover star for its January 2023 issue, where she talks about "Finding My Way Back to Happiness."

Finding Happiness

She eased into life as a mother and took a break from acting before returning to the screen via her talk show. Barrymore revealed that our beloved yellow-themed show almost didn't happen until she took the opportunity by the horns.

The actress recalled transforming her sales tape into an audition pitch and selling herself as the woman for the job!

As a talk show celebrity host, people expected Barrymore to speak only to her peers, but she surprised fans by adding unusual guests and telling regular people's stories.

It was her condition for hosting the talk show and proved a sensible choice since it made The Drew Barrymore Show the fastest-growing morning show in America.

The Drew Barrymore Show wasn't an instant success, as the pandemic took its toll on its launch. Barrymore's forte is being a people person and entertaining the audience with witty banter, but she couldn't explore that working alone from her home.

Thankfully the pandemic abated, and the Covid-19 restriction relaxed, giving Barrymore the recipe for success - a live show!

Her guests have been fantastic, and the antics they get up to on the show are second to none.

Having Fun On Set

During the interview, Barrymore revealed that she wears either SKIMS or Marks & Spencer underwear. The off-cuff comment came after Lucien Laviscount confessed to living his childhood fantasy by chatting with her on set.

Barrymore blushed uncontrollably from the compliment, saying it had never happened to her.

A Love Letter To 'The Drew Barrymore Show'

Barrymore's fashion during the show is also a talking point as she created a signature style with her monochrome pantsuits, floral shirts, and pleated skirts. The actress said the interview with People is a love letter to The Drew Barrymore Show "and everything else in her life."

She's done well for herself with her talk show and hasn't returned to movies since her small roles in the mid-2010s. Hopefully, she will return to the screen soon.
