It's been eight years since we've last seen Cameron Diaz on the big screen, but next year will be the actress' awaited return to the movie theaters. She will be joining Jamie Foxx, one of her co-stars from one of the latest productions she was featured in 2014, Annie.

Jamie Foxx And Tom Brady Convinced Her

Foxx managed to convince Diaz to go back into action with the help of football player Tom Brady. Earlier this year, the actor shared on his Twitter account a snippet of a conversation with Cameron where he told her he had someone who could help her come back, and then Brady hopped on the call.

Need A Little Help Unretiring?

As Cameron was visibly nervous about her decision, Foxx thought it would be great to ask for advice from Brady, who jokily added he had some experience at "unretiring," referencing his shocking retirement announcement at the beginning of the year, to later change his mind.

Then, the actress posted another clip of the call on her Instagram story and stated, "Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action!!! I can't frickin wait it's gonna be a blast!" Diaz said Brady and Foxx's support was exactly what she needed to get back on set.

Back In Action

The movie, Back In Action, is one of Netflix's awaited productions of next year. Though nothing is revealed about the film's plot, it is set to be an action-comedy featuring Glenn Close, directed by Seth Gordon and written by Brendan O'Brien.

Cameron was spotted on set a few days ago in London with Foxx and Close. The pictures were posted by the Daily Mail; the shots show Diaz and Foxx wearing red get-ups on top of their fits while Close shot a scene on the Thames. The actress was very friendly with her co-stars, including the child actors featured in the film.

Are There Going To Be More?

It is very early to know if Cameron plans to make a massive comeback with several movies or if this would be her only project. The star officially announced her retirement in 2018, as she wanted to spend more time with her husband, rockstar Benji Madden.

Over the years, there has been a lot of speculation about a sequel to Diaz's iconic film The Holiday; however, this rumor was dismissed by her co-star Kate Winslet. She has also joked about a reunion with her castmates from The Sweetest Thing, Christina Applegate, and Selma Blair.
