New music is on the horizon for Dolly Parton's fans as the singer plans to dig up a secret song she buried seven years ago. The 76-year-old revealed this secret to Kelly Clarkson on her daily show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The song was really good that Parton hid it in a time capsule and buried it in Dollywood but itches to release it every Christmas. If she digs it up now, that'll be 22 years too early, so she's in a dilemma.

'It's Really Good'

In 2015, Parton opened her Dollywood DreamMore Resort and recorded a special song for it but never released it. Instead, she sealed the record in a time capsule buried in the resort and hopes to release it in 23 years.

She's scared the song would rot in the time capsule (it won't, but nice try, Ms. Dolly), and no one would ever hear it. That'll be a shame, as the Jolene hitmaker promises it's very good. Why she put it in the time capsule is a mystery even to her!

That wasn't the first time the 76-year-old brought the song up as she hinted about its existence in 2020. Parton detailed the grand unveiling scheme during her book tour for Songteller: My Life in Lyrics.

In 2045, Dollywood DreamMore resort will celebrate its 30th Anniversary and dig up the song as the event's grand finale. Her second biggest fear is that she'll be too old to enjoy the moment.

Would She Be Around For The Unearthing Ceremony? We Hope So!

Parton would be 99 years old when the resort turns 30 so she reckons things would be very different. She said burying the song felt like putting one of her children on ice as she may never witness its resurrection.

"It's just burning me up inside that I have to leave it there."

It's also burning us up but it'll be cool to see all those things unveiled 23 years into the future.

More Surprises Waiting For Us

Parton revealed that we should expect more than the song as she also hit cassette players, CDs, and other things in the box.

"I need to use that song, and it's a really good song... I don't know whose d*mn idea it was."

Her team isn't sure she'll be there to experience it, and Clarkson said they're rude about that. The Grammy award-winning singer turned TV show host said she'd done a time capsule gift in the past as a joke but never seriously liked Parton's song idea.
