This year has been a pretty rough year both on the field and off it for two of the leading figures in their respective sports, Gerard Pique of FC Barcelona and Spain and Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both men saw their long-term marriages fall apart this year for differing reasons. However, the one thing that is common between both was that they were married to two of the biggest names not just in South America but in the world as well: pop sensation Shakira and supermodel Gisele Bundchen.
Why Did Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen Call It Quits?
At the end of the 2021 season, Tom Brady stated that he would be walking away from the sport having won a record-breaking seven Super Bowl titles. However, his retirement lasted only 40 days as the itch to play football was just too much to resist for ‘TB12’. This is understood to be the major reason for the marriage falling apart as Bundchen did not want him to return to the sport, but rather spend more time with his children. The former New England Patriots player went ahead with his decision and that ultimately cost him his marriage. The couple officially announced that they had filed for a divorce two months back.

In a recent interview, the Colombian superstar also said that she put her career on the back burner to take care of their kids and the same was not reciprocated by Pique which was another major reason for the split.

Recently, the Colombian superstar has been spotted with Gorka Ezkurdia a 24-year-old surfing instructor from Spain. The pair were photographed in Cantabria while surfing. This is not the first time Shakira and Ezkurdia have been spotted together which suggests that they are somewhat of an item.
