Ellen Pompeo invited Architectural Digest to her house on the beach, and it's giving resort/spa vibes. The Grey's Anatomy star recently announced her departure from the long-running show after almost 20 years as Meredith Grey.

However, her house tour and the assurance of seeing her in a new Hulu show assuaged her fans. The Malibu Beach House is a thing of dreams that only years of hard work can realize, and Pompeo did this with her interior designer friend, Martyn Lawrence Bullard.

The Living Area Is A Mix Of Mid-Century Pieces

Pompeo's beach house is a burst of colors from the door to the interiors. She fused aesthetics from different eras into one when designing the Mediterranean midcentury house.

The interior designer, Bullard, found a 1960s DeSede sofa with patchwork leather, and Pompeo knew she had to have it.

Once the black sofa entered the house, it became the anchor piece for the interior décor. They designed the wall with black marble matching the DeSede sofa and decorated it with books and artwork.

The Dining Area

Pompeo has a classic bar cart in the corner of her living room, and she called it one of her favorite things in the house.

The actress loves its mid-century vibe and the fact that it holds her favorite liquor - tequila. The bar cart sits strategically by an indoor potted plant.

She moved to the kids' dining area with a YSL studio table and Sixties Swedish-made chairs. It has a deep green seaweed cactus plant sitting atop it.

The Kitchen Is Her Sanctuary

The on-screen Doctor revealed that she loves cooking, but her kitchen is small, so she instructs her family to stay behind the island line when she's there to avoid cluttering the space.

It's a beautiful mix of black book-matched marbles and white with notes of teal to highlight the neutrals.

Pompeo and Bullard deliberately chose a marble with ocean-like waves to match the beach outside the house.

The Bedrooms, Bathrooms, And Outdoors

There's more marble in her primary bedroom inspired by the 2009 Italian movie I am Love. It has a big bed with a wide TV for family time on the weekends. The primary bathroom is brighter than the main house, with white marble walls, terrycloth chairs, and marble baths.

The outdoors have a beautiful nature-inspired sofa and a fire pit.
