Super Mario Bros. is top of the most anticipated movies of 2023, and Anya Taylor-Joy has already started promotional press tours for it. However, the first trailer dropped earlier this week, giving fans the first look at her as Princess Peach, and social media can't stop talking about it.

Many fans disapprove of the voice casting for many roles, from Chris Pratt's Mario to Charlie Day's Luigi and Jack Black's Bowser, but they approved Taylor-Joy's casting as Princess Peach.

The Internet Approves Of Taylor-Joy's Casting

The Princess showed up in the trailer's final scene to warn Mario about the universe needing them to save it. She said,

"There's a huge universe out there with a lot of galaxies. They're all counting on us. No Pressure."

Fans noted that the British actress' voice wasn't as high-pitched as the game but admitted she was the only one who remotely sounded like the character we all know and love.

Taylor-Joy getting the voice note makes sense when you realize she conducted deep research for the role, a.k.a. bought every Mario Kart game and played them with friends.

Super Mario Changed Her Life

Joining the Super Mario Bros. cast changed Taylor-Joy's life as she grew to love the arcade version of Mario Kart. She admitted that her friends loved the childlike side of her that came out due to the movie role.

Fans can't wait to see her interpretation of the role in theaters next year, and they shared as much on Twitter. They're most excited that Princess Peach got a developed personality and storyline rather than the "Damsel in Distress" role she plays in the games.

Check out some of the reactions below.

Becoming A Hardcore Super Mario Fan

Taylor-Joy told MTV News that she'd wear a Princess Peach dress and her crown with little mushroom folk once the official press tour starts. The actress spoke about the surprisingly wild fanbase of Super Mario Bros., starting with her close friends.

Taylor-Joy already got a head-start to dressing as Princess Peach when her friend got her a gem during Halloween this year. Taylor-Joy told Jimmy Fallon that the costume was impromptu as she'd just returned from the desert in Australia, where she filmed Furiosa.

She wore a pink triple-tiered mini dress with her blonde hair in wavy curls and a Princess Peach crown. However, the actress added a twist to her costume, embracing grunge fashion with black booties while her friends accompanied her in a twin-Super Mario costume.
