When it comes to finding feel-good content on the internet, there isn't much that's better than cross-species friendships. Perhaps it's because humans are social creatures who enjoy having pets, but there's just something about seeing two animals forge a bond that makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
A recent Reddit post showed a charming glimpse into the lives of a Newfoundland dog and a crow hanging out together as if like they've been doing it their whole lives.
It starts off on a promising note with a short clip of the dog and the crow excitedly running across a lawn to see each other. It's almost like the big payoff in a movie where two star-crossed lovers dash towards each other because they don't want to be apart any longer.
It's absolutely adorable to witness — thanks in no small part to the fact that the crow chooses to quickly waddle across the grass rather than take flight.
It's an interesting dynamic for sure. Anyone who's had a Newfoundland dog will tell you that they're just about the friendliest, most loving dog a person could have — but they're not exactly the smartest dog a person could have. Far from it, in fact.
Crows, on the other hand, are highly intelligent birds. They've been known to form friendships with all kinds of different species, including humans, so this partnership does make a certain amount of sense.
Some snippets of the video show the crow poking around the dog's face, almost as if it's grooming the doggo. It seems like a mutually agreeable relationship, as the dog gets some of the love and attention that all Newfoundlands crave, while the crow gets a safe and cozy furry place to snuggle into.
Crows and dogs wouldn't seem to have much in common, but the friendliness of canines combined with the intelligence of corvids have clearly resulted in a friendship that'll stand the test of time.
