Will Ferrell is no stranger to Christmas. In 2003, he completely changed the holiday movie landscape with his starring role in Elf , the story of a human man who was raised as a North Pole elf and travels to New York City to find his father.
This year, he’s done it again with the recent release of Spirited , which is a musical retelling of A Christmas Carol . Basically, the comedian is kind of a Christmas staple.
In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon , Ferrell got right into the Christmas spirit, dressing as Santa and delivering gifts to Fallon’s young children. In 2021, the @fallontonight TikTok account uploaded a clip of the hilarious and totally age-inappropriate gifts Ferrell chose for the kids.
The Minute-Long Clip Is Full Of Laughs From Fallon And The Audience.
“She’s gonna have tears of joy in [Franny’s] little angelic eyes,” Ferrell says at the beginning of the clip, dressed in what can only be described as a skate punk Santa outfit. Fallon eagerly opens the gift that Ferrell had chosen, and finds that it’s a DVD copy of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit . More specifically, year 8, which is apparently when “they finally got it together.”
Ferrell then brings out the next gift, meant for Fallon’s older daughter, Winnie. Fallon opens the present and finds a copy of The Firm , a novel by John Grisham. The audience once again erupts into laughter. “They’re gonna get lost in the magic,” Ferrell says as even Fallon can’t contain his laughter.
Fans Reacted To The Clip In The Comments.

Though some focused on the gifts themselves, a lot of people were confused by Ferrell’s appearance during the clip. Many likened him to Sugar Ray or Machine Gun Kelly. Needless to say, Ferrell’s appearance somehow landed better than the jokes.
Some Commenters Were Willing To Admit That The Look Was Doing Something For Them.

No shame, of course, but it seems that how Ferrell happened to be dressed was causing a lot of confusion among fans. Many were even willing to admit as much in the TikTok’s comment section.
And Of Course, People Had To Bring Buddy The Elf Into The Conversation.

Considering the fact that Elf is a Christmas movie that basically defined an entire generation, it makes sense that the comment section would be filled with users making Buddy the Elf jokes.
Ferrell’s appearance aside, the bit still managed to get lots of laughs!
