While it's definitely important to listen to what our doctors have to tell us about our body and our health, it's also incredibly important to trust your gut if something doesn't feel right about the experience you're having with those doctors.

Actress Sharon Stone recently highlighted the importance of getting a second opinion after experiencing a health scare on her Twitter account.

Sharon is best known for her roles in Basic Instinct, Casino, Total Recall, Above The Law, and The Quick And The Dead, but she's also known for being an open book online and always raising awareness for issues that she finds important.

Recently, Sharon opened up about a pretty scary medical experience on Twitter.

"Just had another misdiagnosis and incorrect procedure," Sharon shared on Twitter. "This time double epidural [with] worsening pain. Went for a SECOND OPINION," she wrote.

It turned out to be a very good thing that she did.

"I have a large fibroid tumor that must come out," she revealed.

"Ladies in particular: don't get blown off, GET A SECOND OPINION! It can save your life!" she added, referencing the gender biases in medicine that many women face where their concerns are not taken seriously.

"I'll be down for 4-6 weeks for full recovery," Sharon continued.

"[Thanks] for your care. It's all good," she finished her tweet.
