Arrogant, greedy, gold digger. These are all words used to describe Meredith Blake , the main antagonist in the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap .
Elaine Hendrix played a young, pretty, woman who appeared to only be after a man’s money.
But what if Meredith wasn’t the villain at all? Now that we’re older, watching the film as an adult has certainly shifted some perspective.
It’s been over 24 years since ‘The Parent Trap’ came out.

The film, starring Lindsay Lohan, was about two twins, Annie and Halle, who were separated at birth when their parents (played by Dennis Quaid and the late Natasha Richardson) got divorced.
The 11-year-old twins meet at a summer camp for the first time and decide to switch places as part of their plan to have their parents reconcile.

Watching the film as an adult is a much different experience than watching it as a kid.
For one, you realize how hot Dennis Quaid was and two, you realize that the polarizing Meredith Blake may not have been the villain at all.

Elaine Hendrix put this thought in people’s minds when she celebrated the 24th anniversary of the 1998 film on TikTok.
She took part in the “He’s a 10 but…” trend, which has users pointing out their potential partner’s shortcomings.

While Adele’s “Easy on Me” song played in the background, Elaine opened up a bottle of wine and poured herself a huge glass.
“He’s a 10 but he had twins he secretly separated at birth when he broke up with their mother and didn’t tell you about it until the twins discovered each other at camp and swapped places to try and get their parents back together,” the text read.

The text continued on, sharing various plot points in the movie.
Like when Meredith ran into the twins at the hotel before her and Nick’s wedding.

And when they all go on a camping trip, only for the girls to prank her by putting rocks in her backpack, a lizard on her head, and her air mattress in the middle of the lake.
She was well-deserving of that glass of wine that she drank throughout the video!

The hilarious video quickly went viral, racking up over 8 million views .
It also had thousands of fans sympathizing with Meredith Blake for the first time ever.
“She was a successful woman who fell for a hot wine dad who lied about his family and was still in love with his ex,” one fan wrote.

“Poor Meredith. You can do better,” another added, with the hashtag #justiceformeredithblake even trending.
“Growing up is realizing Meredith Blake was a victim of circumstance not a villain.”

This isn’t the first time people have changed their tune on Meredith.
E News previously published a video featuring Elaine , where she acted as Meredith and “cleared the air” on some things said about her.
“It seems I gained of a reputation of sorts for being a gold digger, selfish, even Cruella,” she began.

She then went on to defend herself, saying that she had a major job as a publicist in San Francisco. “I ran [expletive]. I didn’t need Nick Parker’s money.”
Besides, it wasn’t like Nick was 70 years old. He was handsome as heck, which only meant that Meredith was #winning.
“He was a certified ‘DILF,'” she proclaimed. Amen to that!
Finally, she argued that the twins never gave her a fair chance. Would we want two spoiled twins as our stepdaughters? No thanks!
Meredith said it best: “Being young and beautiful isn’t a crime.”
