Everyone loves a good mystery, and some of the best mysteries can be found in your home.

While these mysteries may be intriguing, they're often a hassle to deal with. One TikToker looked to her followers for help when she found some weirdly mysterious goo "bleeding" out of her bathroom wall. The most puzzling part of it? No one has been able to figure out what it is.

Most of us would prefer if our homes remained free of weird, mysterious slime and goo, but unfortunately this just isn't realistic. Whether it comes from mold or perhaps dripping water that's become contaminated, these mysteries are just one of the joys of home ownership.

This TikToker needs your help.

Lexyraye, who has more than 108,000 followers on TikTok, crowdsourced a recent problem she's found: her bathroom walls are bleeding.

Well, it isn't blood, per se. But it's tough to find another way to describe what's been going on.

It's more than a little bit disconcerting.

Rusty water has kind of a brownish-orange hue, but the stuff seeping out of Lexyraye's walls is much darker. It's more of a dark red, and seems to have a thick and viscous consistency.

Is it coming from inside the cabinet?

This style of bathroom cabinet contains a lot of metal and gets wet frequently, so rusty water could still be a cause. But after taking stuff apart, Lexyraye found that the goo wasn't coming from the inside of the cabinet — it was coming from the outside corners.

Commenters tried to crack the case.

There's no shortage of suggestions to try to identify the culprit. Lexyraye was dedicated to figuring out the cause, so she investigated each possibility and found that every single one ended in a dead end.

Does removing the cabinet do anything?

In a follow-up video, Lexyraye removed the entire cabinet to see if something — either part of the cabinet, or behind the cabinet — could explain the source. But the cabinet was pretty much rust-free and didn't seem to be part of the problem.

Step by step, Lexyraye did some troubleshooting.

Could it be honey from an old beehive? This sort of thing can happen inside the walls of older homes. In yet another video, Lexyraye investigated this possibility and found, once more, a dead end.

Could it be, uh, something leaking from...somewhere?

At this point, both Lexyraye and her many followers were at a loss. She showed real dedication to identifying the root cause, but the presumably gross origins of the mystery goo could still not be identified.

It might be mold.

When you combine a steamy bathroom environment with the various materials that go into building a house, mold can be the result. While it's a promising lead, no one was able to even identify a possible type of mold that fit the description.

She's still at it.

Lexyraye has displayed an impressive dedication to solving this problem, so it makes it all the more frustrating that no clear answers have emerged. Still, it's an ongoing saga, one that ought to produce an answer eventually, so it's worth following her on TikTok to see if the mystery gets solved.

What do you think it is?

I've lived in not just one, but two houses with moldy basements. It's gross for sure, but at least it's a simple problem to diagnose and fix. Lexyraye's issue is a little more complex. Let us know if you have any similar experiences, and share your guesses as to what this mystery slime might be.
