Britney Spears, 40, is showing off her voice in a new Instagram video for the first time in years.

Britney has one of the most iconic voices in music — not only was she everywhere on the radio over her career, but her distinctive sound really made her stand out from the rest. There's a reason she's the undisputed princess of pop! There hasn't been too much opportunity to hear Britney sing over the past few years but she's showing off her pipes and how much they've changed on her always-active social media.

Britney Spears was famously freed from a conservatorship in November.

The conservatorship, run by her father Jamie Spears, had been in place for 14 years and had restricted Britney's control over her finances, personal life, and creative aspect of her career, which the singer has spoken up over on social media many times.

Britney is now speaking out again about the lack of creative control she had over her career.

In a new video that showcases Britney singing in a much lower register than many fans expected, Britney discussed her desires to re-record one of her classic hits in a new format that had been denied and shut down by her team.

"This is me yesterday," Britney captioned a video she shared to her Instagram.

"I haven’t shared my voice in an extremely long time … maybe too long… and here’s me playing at my house with a different version of 'Baby,'" she wrote alongside a video filmed of her in the dark singing a different, NSFW arrangement of her classic hit 'Baby One More Time.'

Britney revealed she'd been asking for 14 years to record this arrangement of the song, but "the team said 'NO!'"

"They ruined it for me, embarrassed me and made me feel like absolutely nothing," Britney wrote, adding that she wanted to "share this because I am aware of my love and passion to sing … and my own family made a fool of me … I’m not going to be a victim !!! HIT ME BABY ONE MORE TIME."

Britney said what she got instead of being able to re-record her song was insulting.

"The TEAM said NO and serves me with 4 girls, my sister included, doing a 5 minute version of 4 remixed songs to a T not even having to give effort or dance," she wrote. "Just shot it beautifully and the sound was NEW."

Britney is likely referencing this 2017 tribute performance of the track.

The performance, which took place at the Radio Disney Music Awards, featured a performance of the song along with others of Britney's hits performed by singers Kelsea Ballerini, Hailee Steinfeld, Sofia Carson, and Britney's sister, Jamie Lynn Spears.

Fans were loving the new sound from Britney.

"So incredible to hear your REAL voice," one fan wrote.

"I love your natural voice but I love more seeing you comfortable showing it to the world," wrote another.

"Love the arrangement! Can’t wait to see what you come out with in terms of new music!!!" another fan added.

"You show all them haters Brit. Take back your life and sing what you want. You sound amazing," one fan wrote.

Many fans requested a full version of this new arrangement with Britney's updated, darker vocals.

"You need to record this version girl! We love hearing your voice!!!" wrote one fan.

"PULL A T SWIFT AND RE RECORD AN ALBUM. We beg of you!" added another.

If you're also hoping for a full version of the song in this style, you might be out of luck.

As Britney wrote in her post caption, "Pssss you say go do it NOW after 14 years of asking and telling … I worked my ass off then I was locked up in one place … It’s too late … Like I said, they ruined it for me."
