Weddings mark the beginning of a couple's happily ever after. It's a symbolic moment where two hearts meld into one and began beating in unison for the rest of their days.

But nobody told YouTuber Clancy Burke that planning her wedding would also be one of the most stressful moments of her life, where every decision (including her choice to not have brides) would be examined under a microscope.

Planning a wedding is supposed to be one of the most joyous and momentous experiences in any couple's life journey.

A wedding is a union of souls. It's the moment where you stop being an "I" and start being a "we" — until death (or divorce) do you part.

But one thing that they don't tell you is that planning a wedding will also be one of the most stressful moments in your life.

From the moment you say yes to your proposal, the clock starts ticking! Decisions have to be made around the venue, music, food, and of course — the wedding party.

However, for YouTube star Clancy Burke, a wedding party is one stress that she can live without.

"This might be a little bit controversial," Clancy announced to her 450k YouTube followers, "but we are not doing a wedding party."

Clancy was quick to comment on how selecting a wedding party, in her opinion, complicates everything.

"It makes everyone else have to spend so much money, and it was like stressing me out thinking about who I would pick; leaving out this person,"

Clancy went on to explain how her decision stemmed from the fact that she doesn't have a single core group of girlfriends.

"I don't have a friend group. My friends come from everywhere, like, 'one here, one here, one there,' and none of them know each other," Clancy said.

The more Clancy thought about it, the less she began to like the idea of having bridesmaids.

"Why do I have to do bridesmaids if it's going to just cause that much more stress? How am I gonna ask them; what dresses am I going to force them to wear; are we gonna go on a trip?"

The wedding process is steeped in tradition. But if you find yourself making decisions strictly to appease others — that's a problem.

Unfortunately, some of her followers didn't feel the same way and began inundating her inbox with messages detailing how selfish she was being.

Luckily, these types of comments made up a very small minority.

Most of Clancy's followers were eager to stand in solidarity with her decision not to compromise and made sure to point out that at the end of the day — it was her wedding.

"People saying she’s being selfish because she wants the spotlight are weird and dumb," a fellow YouTuber's comment began.

"She and her fiancé are SUPPOSED to be the main focus of the wedding."

"Wow, imagine the nerve of a bride who wants her wedding the way she wants it," another said sarcastically.

If Clancy has her way, she won't stop there! Apparently, she isn't too keen on the idea of having a father/daughter dance.

As someone who is currently trying to avoid being guilted into dancing with his mother at his own upcoming wedding, I can totally relate to this.

It's remarkable how many different people will try to make your big day about them.

Perhaps we'd all be better to do as Clancy plans to and say "to hell" with tradition. Your wedding isn't about your family or your wedding party for that matter — it's about you.
