If you’re going to be a celebrity, one major prerequisite is having tough skin.
After all, people are always going to talk. Their job is to simply let the hate roll off their shoulders.
But celebs are human, too. This means that ignoring the hate isn’t always easy to do. When this happens, the block button is used…a lot.
Here, people share why celebrities have blocked them on Twitter.
1. Amy Schumer

This person’s old roommate got blocked after telling the comedian that her Netflix special wasn’t funny.
To be fair, her Leather Special was widely criticized and it’s even been speculated that Netflix ratings were phased out from people rating her special so poorly.
2. Dax Shepard
Now that this Twitter user pointed this out, we can’t unsee it! Sorry, Dax, but we have to agree.
We can understand why Dax would be offended, though, since the Canadian band has long been criticized for being, well, horrible. Sorry, Dax!
3. Gordon Ramsay
This user never shared the story behind why the famous chef blocked him, but if we had to guess, we’d say that it was probably food-related.
Guess the old saying is true: If he can’t stand the heat, then Gordon should stay off Twitter.
4. John Legend
Maybe he forgot what he wrote since he tweeted it when he was drunk?
Either way, there’s a good chance Legend conferred with his wife, Chrissy Teigen aka the Queen of Social Media, before he blocked this user.
5. William Shatner

This person learned the ropes of Twitter very quickly.
“When I was new to Twitter and didn’t really understand how it worked, William Shatner was live tweeting an episode of Supernatural and making bad dad jokes. I @ed him and said how happy it made me that William Shatner Tweeted like a teenage girl in an old mans body. Boom. Banned. Sorry, Bill…”
6. Cher
This person never shared why they were blocked by Cher, but another user in the comments had a similar experience:
“@cher blocks everyone! I once said it couldn’t be her account because she was answering everyone which was unusual, and she blocked me.”
7. Judd Apatow
This Twitter user learned that you should never insult a man’s wife!
They also clearly forgot that his wife had to act miserable in the film since she was going through a mid-life crisis!
Also, really, just don’t attack someone’s partner.
8. Zach Braff

This person got a personal response from the star.
“He tweeted a review of his film Wish I Was Here from a French website. It was a clearly very positive review, so I sarcastically replied saying, ‘They hated it.’ He DM’d me saying, ‘Why would you say that,’ and blocked me. Still funny to me.”
9. Chris D’Elia

What happened to this person and the famous comedian wasn’t so funny .
“After seeing his Man on Fire special, I commented on his Instagram post ‘Man on Fire wasn’t great.’ That’s it. Just my opinion on his special, although his previous work and podcasts are amazing. So he goes through the thousands of comments, sees mine, and blocks me on instagram.”
But that wasn’t all. This person also got blocked on Twitter.
“I find out weeks later. One day he tweets something and I reply ‘wait can you unblock me on IG?’ He replies with a laugh and blocks me on twitter as well. The worst part is, he recorded himself blocking my twitter and posts it on Instagram. I can’t link you because I’m blocked, but scroll down to around June and you’ll see the video.”
10. Dr. Phil
This person soon learned that the only person who can call Dr. Phil “Daddy” are his kids…and maybe his wife.
“My friend got blocked by Dr Phil on Instagram because she commented ‘daddy’ on one of his posts.”
11. Piers Morgan
This isn’t the only time Piers Morgan blocked someone.
A Reddit user wrote that “Piers Morgan didn’t like it when I reminded him of the time he intercepted voicemails on Nigel Havers’ phone so he could print stories about his dying wife.”
12. Dane Cook

The actor and comedian must have searched his name on Twitter to find this mean tweet .
“I got blocked by Dane Cook because I tweeted, ‘Idk what is creepier about Dane Cook his plastic surgery or his teenage girlfriend.’ I didn’t even at him!”
13. Naomi Campbell
We’re sooo curious as to what this person was honest about with the supermodel. It’ll always haunt me.
Celebrities may seem tough and like they have thick skin, but the littlest things can sometimes set them off. Lesson learned for this person!
14. Gene Simmons
Bert Kreischer was actually the one to start things off on Twitter, as he asked users to share the celebrities they’ve been blocked by.
Gene Simmons is a big one. We don’t know if Bert should be honored or offended!
15. Drake
Thanks to this story , all of those rumors about Drake being sensitive might be true…
“My cousin was blocked by Drake after commenting on one of his posts: ‘Why do you write songs about women not wanting you when you’re exactly the kind of man women should avoid?'”
16. Tim Allen
Reminding a celeb of their difficult past never goes well … Take it from this guy.
“One time Tim Allen made a tweet where he said something like ‘If people evolved from monkeys how come there are still monkeys?’ And I said: ‘If Time Allen was arrested for smuggling several pounds of cocaine how come he’s not in prison?’ I thought it was funny.”
17. Amy Schumer, again
Looks like Amy is trigger-happy on the block button!
At least this Twitter user got to become a little bit famous by making it into her comedy special!
One person, however, joked that this is another example of Amy stealing jokes. Ouch.
18. Ryan Reynolds

We’re honestly surprised Ryan didn’t find this person’s tweet funny. This is so his kind of humor.
“I tweeted a picture of a burnt hot dog to Ryan Reynolds and asked if it looked like Deadpool’s member. BLOCKED! No regrets!!”
19. John Cusack
Who would have thought that John would be so petty? If you’re already blocking the person, why would you bother sending a DM alerting them to the fact?
Is he that desperate to have the final word?
20. Michael Strahan

“Michael Strahan, because I called him out for not reading the book he was interviewing about. I guess I was right, bc he blocked me.”
If talk show hosts had to read every single book by every single guest that appeared on the show, they’d never leave home!
21. Amanda Seales
“Amanda Seales blocked me on my old account. She tweeted ‘I’m so Gryffindor’ and I replied ‘That sounds more like a Slytherin’….she blocked me right after that LOL.”
Hey, if someone called me a Slytherin they’d be blocked faster than they could yell “Expelliarmus!”
22. Vanilla Ice

“I may have questioned his relevance.”
Vanilla Ice has been known to be a little sensitive about his music and career. I don’t understand why, either. In my opinion ” Go Ninja, Go Ninja, Go !” will always be a timeless hit.
23. Questlove, Yvette Nicole Brown, and William Shatner…again.
That is an awfully long list with some seriously heavy hitters! I’m torn up about Questlove. He just doesn’t seem like the type to block someone, although it clearly is a habit that Captain Kirk has become quite accustomed to.
24. Mindy Kaling

“Mindy Kaling for calling her out on Roman Polanski years ago.”
Roman Polanski at one time was the most popular director in Hollywood. He was also a child predator charged with five counts of sexual assault.
25. J.K. Rowling
In case you were unsure, a TERF is an acronym that stands for ‘Transgender Exclusionary Radical Feminist.’
Rowling got into hot water when she tweeted her support for Maya Forstater.
Maya was fired for commenting that trans women couldn’t change their biological s*x.
26. LL COOL J
Have you heard the song she’s talking about? Here’s a sample of some of the lyrics:
“I’m just a white man comin’ to you from the southland, tryin’ to understand what it’s like not to be. I’m proud of where I’m from but not everything we’ve done And it ain’t like you and me can re-write history.”
Wow. Just wow.
