Childhood movies are so special.
We feel nostalgic just thinking about them, let alone watching them. But not even that can stay pure and innocent forever.
Thanks to some people on the internet with way too much time on their hands, we’ve discovered these 10+ fan theories that kind of ruin our favorite childhood movies.
1. That Carl was dead the entire time in *Up*
As if the movie wasn’t heartbreaking enough, we go and learn about this fan theory that states that Paradise Falls is the afterlife.
This would mean that the Joyous Russell was an angel, guiding him on his way to get that Wilderness Explorer badge.
2. That Anna and Elsa’s from *Frozen* parents lived to make Tarzan.
This would mean that they landed up in a jungle after their ship capsized.
While this may seem like a good thing, there is still a good chance that the parents died after this since Tarzan was parentless.
AND this theory would mean that Elsa and Anna have a baby brother who they never met.
Surprisingly, though, this fan theory does have merit since Chris Buck, the director of Frozen , told MTV that he’d always imagined Tarzan was the little brother of Anna and Elsa.
3. That Kevin from *Home Alone* grows up to be Jigsaw from *Saw*.
Buckle up, this is a wild one.
The fan theory drew connections between the fact that both Kevin and Jigsaw had a love for booby traps.
Kevin’s basement as a kid ended up looking like the exact same in the *Saw* movies, which means he would have recreated it.
And since he was always scared of the furnace, it makes sense that he would burn someone alive in it as Jigsaw!
4. That Sid grows up to be the garbage man in *Toy Story 3*.
The first Toy Story film may have been a long time ago, but clever fans noticed that the garbage man in the third film is wearing the same t-shirt as Sid did as a kid.
We were hoping he’d grow up to do something more with his life!
5. That Dorothy is the Wicked Witch of the East in *The Wizard of Oz*.
Fans have found many coincidences in the fact that we don’t see the Witch’s face until she gets crushed and the fact that she has the same shoe size as Dorothy.
Because of this, some fans believe that Oz is an alternate reality where Dorothy is the witch.
6. That the monsters are scared of the Black Death in *Monster’s Inc*.
Things certainly take a dark turn with this theory .
It posits that the monsters are scared of humans since the last contact they had with them was during the time of the Black Death, AKA a deadly plague.
7. That Doc Brown was suicidal in *Back to the Future*.
This dark fan theory comes from one memorable scene in the film: after Doc talked about his inventions never working, he put himself in the direct path of the speeding DeLorean.
And since Doc grabbed Marty’s hand, some believe that this could have been a murder-suicide.
8. That Willy Wonka from *Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory* is a serial killer.
This one shouldn’t be that much of a surprise. I mean, the dude was weird. He lured children into his home using candy and then they all started disappearing one by one.
Two words: SERIAL KILLER.
9. That Marlin hallucinated his son in *Finding Nemo*.
Get ready to cry over this one.
This fan theory posits that Marlin was so distraught over losing his wife and kids that he hallucinates one son surviving. And get this: Nemo’ translates to “no one” in Latin. Woah.
10. That Ferris is a figment of Cameron’s imagination in *Ferris Bueller’s Day Off*.
According to this theory that has been around for a long time, Ferris is nothing more than a figment of Cameron’s imagination.
That’s because he’s everything Ferris wishes he could be: confident, popular, funny, and so on.
11. That the cars in *Cars* killed all of the humans.
Ever wondered why there are man-made structures like buildings, but no humans?
This theory states that the vehicles rebelled against their human masters and killed them.
They are the only ones around since they proved that they were the superior being.
Surprisingly, this theory got some support from Jay Ward, the creative director for Cars , as he questioned “why do we need human beings anymore?”
12. That Wheezy is the secret villain in *Toy Story*.
This fan theory states that Wheezy has had enough of being neglected since he has a broken squeaker.
Once his jealousy gets to be too much, he puts himself in harm’s way so that Woody will save him and hopefully get sold.
13. That Kristoff is wearing the skinned pelt of Sven’s mother in *Frozen*.
As weird as this fan theory is, given the frigid temperatures of Arendelle, it would make sense.
If you’re desperate to stay alive, you do what you have to do.
14. That the toys in *Toy Story* will live forever unless they’re burnt or melted.
As sad as it is, it appears to be the life cycle for the toys. It’s certainly no way to go, but the only other option is being immortal.
15. That *Aladdin* is set in a post-apocalyptic future.
This wild fan theory was built from the fact that the Genie knows so many pop culture references despite being locked in a lamp for 10,000 years.
How else would he nail that Arnold Schwarzenegger impression?!
If this theory is true, it means that *Aladdin* is set in the *future* and not in the past. This means that only a few countries survived the apocalypse.
Since Genie remembered the third century by referring to Aladdin’s clothes as “so third century,” this means that the year would be 10,300 AD.
