On the latest episode of TLC’s Little People, Big World , after hearing the exciting news of his mother’s engagement, Zach Roloff seemed less than thrilled.
He’s now opening-up about his initial reaction, and why he seemed to “awkward”.

Zach Roloff’s mom, Amy, revealed that she engaged to her boyfriend, Chris Marek.
She explained that he popped the question on their third anniversary.
While fans were probably expecting a beaming response from Zach, his reaction was lackluster.
“Besides a house and all that other stuff happening in my life, there’s other news I gotta tell you about,” Amy began.
“I’m engaged,” she said with a huge smile on her face.
As Zach sat there in silence, his wife chimed in — seeming in disbelief.
“What?,” she doubled back.
“Chris proposed to me yesterday,” Amy reiterated .
“For our third year anniversary,” she added.
“Well, you guys are shocked,” she said , as Zach sat there, still not seeming fazed by the news whatsoever.
Tori noticed Zach’s silence and asked, “Are you good babe?”
“Oh yeah,” Zach replied , remaining quiet.
In confessional, Amy revealed that she wasn’t entirely surprised by Zach’s reaction to her news — or lack thereof.
“I was surprised because I thought he would at least say congratulations or something like that,” she admitted.
“But I wasn’t surprised because I thought he may not be ready to hear news like this and it was literally a shock because nobody expected it.”
She revealed that she “really felt bad because I thought obviously he was quite surprised.”
Back sitting with Zach and Tori, Amy showed off her heart-shaped engagement ring and explained her’s and Chris’ tentative wedding plans.
“We’re thinking about 2021,” Amy said.
“But it’ll be small,” she added , “it’s not going to be this big thing.”
“I’m just hoping that you continue to welcome him into the family and be a part of it all, because that means a lot to him.”
She said that she had hoped Zach would be “happy” for her, but added, “I understand if you’re not.”
“No, it’s all good,” Zach responded, grabbing hold of Tori’s hand.
Back in confessional, Tori said she was caught off-guard by Zach’s reaction to his mom’s engagement.
“Zach was like completely quiet. I didn’t know why, but I think I was just trying to make sure that it wasn’t awkward , which it was.”
When later asked by a producer why he seemed so unenthused, Zach explained that he prefers to keep private family news like that off-camera.
“I told my mom and dad, ‘Hey, these are one thing I don’t want to talk about on camera,'” he said .
“‘My one out-of-bounds is your guys’ relationship,'” he went on.
“‘And if that relationship goes anywhere else beyond what it is right now, I don’t want to be surprised by any news of those relationships on camera .'”
“And then she went on camera and surprised me with that news,” he continued.
“We’ve been doing this for 15 years and I’ve shown some of the most difficult and awkward moments of my life”.
“There’s just been one thing that entire time that I’ve asked my parents to do with me in private and my mom couldn’t remember.”
“It’s like no, I’m not putting up with that,” he concluded .
