Many women look at being pregnant as a blessing, as they’re bringing a human life into the world. While having a child is a beautiful and wonderful thing, many women know that having a baby bump is like an open invite for advice from strangers that they did not ask for.
And, some of the pregnancy advice we get is so bad, we have no idea how people have had children.

Crossing your legs is a no-no.
One mom said that someone shared with them crossing your legs can hurt the baby’s head. Literally.
“Don’t cross your legs because your baby will be born with a cone head.”
Pretty sure that is NOT how it works. At all. Ever.
Don’t drink hot beverages.
Another woman shared that someone told her that drinking hot beverages was definitely a bad move when you’re pregnant with a baby.
“They said not to drink hot tea because I would boil my baby,” said the Reddit user. No, she’s not kidding.
A whole vodka drink.
“When I was pregnant past my due date, a coworker advised me to drink cod liver oil mixed with vodka. Apparently this mixture would upset my digestive system, give me horrible diarrhea, and thus trigger labor contractions,” shared one person.
You can’t fit a baby out of there.
One person said that someone had told her she should just get a C-section because she wasn’t “big enough” down there to push out a baby.
Right. Because they know. And, that’s definitely how it works.
“Breastfeeding in public is gross.”
What is it with people who hate the natural process of breastfeeding? Honestly, when people go up to breastfeeding moms and complain, it’s truly the most disgusting and rude thing.
Go away and leave everyone alone. Let them feed in peace.
Peanut butter causes cancer.
“I had a coworker tell me that eating peanut butter (I was eating an apple with peanut butter on my lunch break) would give my baby cancer. I already thought she was the world’s greatest idiot so that nugget of wisdom was just confirmation,” shared another.
Be careful with those arms.
One mom shared that someone told her that raising her arms above her head can be super dangerous and damaging to the baby.
Like, basically, the chord will wrap around the baby’s head if they raise their arms up too high.
Don’t drink the coke.
People always feel the need to comment on whatever you eat and drink when you’re pregnant.
It’s annoying and definitely unneeded. So, why not tell them you’re hungover and make them even more annoyed and bothered.
Pain is purpose.
“Someone said my labor should be painless because Jesus died and erased the ‘pain during childbirth’ penalty humans got from Eve. If I feel pain, it’s because I don’t believe in Jesus’s redemptive powers,” shared another mother, who was equally as confused as me.
“Real births” are vaginal.
Another person shared that her sister’s mother-in-law told her sister that because she had a C-section, she didn’t have a “real birth” and she wasn’t a “real woman.” Honestly, people like this are the absolute worst.
Tangerines are high in IQ power.
“One of my work colleagues was obsessed with recommending that I eat citrus fruits, especially the easy-to-peel Cutie tangerines. She was convinced it would give the baby a higher IQ in the long run,” shared another mom on Reddit.
Red meat can kill you.
One person shared that a stranger let her know that eating red meat can kill her, so she gave the most appropriate response possible.
When you see a woman pregnant, just let them live their life. Don’t tell them what to do. Just let them be!
Semen helps acne.
“The lady at the counter in the village bakery told me that I should smear my face with SEMEN to counter pregnancy acne. It was the first time I’d ever met her,” shared a mom , who was baffled. I’m baffled, too.
Drink some beer, it’ll help.
“While pregnant with me, my mom was told that drinking beer would help her baby develop and be nice and chubby, so she did. I was five weeks early and barely six pounds,” shared another mom , whose mom clearly doesn’t get it.
Underwear. Definitely underwear.
“I had severe itching all over the body during the 7th month. I did the routine test for liver function. It was all normal. A colleague advised me to rub my husband’s dirty underwear all over my body as a remedy for itching,” said another.
