There’s nothing to make your head spin quite like a good optical illusion. It’s even better when you can do it yourself without having to google anything or make yourself go cross-eyed staring at your phone screen. One woman on TikTok shared an optical illusion she discovered she can do using just her fingers, and of course, we couldn’t help but give it a try too.
“I’m gonna show you an optical illusion that you can do with just your hands,” a user on TikTok named Evie began her video.
“I figured out once in high school and it looked so weird that I thought I was dreaming. I googled it and couldn’t find anything on it. So I don’t know if it’s just me that thinks it looks weird, tell me if you can see it too,” she says , before beginning by holding her index fingers up knuckle to knuckle.
“Then you turn one further than the other one,” she explains.
“And now that finger just looks HUGE,” she exclaims .
Of course, I and many other people who saw this video immediately tried it ourselves, and it’s true — turning your one finger a little bit further makes your entire finger look absolutely huge compared to your other one.
Evie even showed it from a first-person perspective.
People in the comments were understandably excited.
“I’m certain you have the right to name this effect,” one user wrote, while another added, “This gave me serotonin. Thank you.”
“I’ve been staring at my fingers for ten minutes because of this,” one commenter wrote.
“I’m laying in my bed at 1 in the morning freaking out doing this,” added another commenter.
