Don’t get me wrong, I totally love my in-laws. I was lucky enough to marry into a family with really amazing people who I truly love. However, as much as I love my mother-in-law I would never want to travel with her. Travelling with someone is a completely different ballgame and one I’d have no interest in cueing up my MIL for.
Look, I love coffee more than I love most people in my life.
Is that dramatic? Maybe. But does anyone else motivate me to get out of bed every morning the way an iced latte does?

Have I ever gotten so caffeine deprived that I’ve cried? Maybe. But to be fair, who hasn’t?!
Because of this, I always make sure that I have coffee on me, or within arms reach — it’s a courtesy to others, really.
Now, one Reddit user is asking if they were in the wrong for not obeying their MIL’s coffee demand while on vacation.
The user on the popular Reddit AITA page begins by explaining that their future MIL is coffee obsessed .
During their recent family road trip, her MIL demanded the car stopped every few hours for java.
When the family finally arrived at their destination and just wanted to go to sleep, the Reddit user’s future mother-in-law demanded her future DIL go get her coffee.
“The first night, we drove until we couldn’t anymore and then got two hotel rooms,” the woman wrote.
“There was a coffee shop next to the hotel, so no problem there. But all we heard from FMIL was, ‘I’ve got to stop and have my coffee,’ so we did. The next night, we got to our destination, a cabin in the Rockies.”
“It was late, and we had been traveling all day (mind you, we only took one vehicle on this trip), and our time was two hours behind what it would normally be at home, so we were definitely feeling it.”
“Basically, everyone just wanted to get our stuff into the cabin, shower, and go to bed.”
“She just kept saying she needed to go to the store for her coffee to make in the morning,” the poster explained.
“We all told her we could go as soon as everyone was up and get groceries as we had to anyways.”
“That just wouldn’t work for her she insisted she needed someone to go out and get her coffee.”
“She wanted FFIL (future father-in-law) to do it as she had gotten a bad case of car sickness on the trip, which is true.”
“When FFIL didn’t want to do it since he drove the last few hours of the trip, she wanted me and my fiancé to go, I refused.”
“I told her it was entirely unnecessary and we could just go and get some for her in the morning at the store. She would be fine for one morning. And if she really wanted it that bad, she would go and get it herself.”
It seems most people in the comments agreed with the Reddit user that her future MIL was being a brat.
“if she knew she needed her damn coffee so bad she literally should’ve brought instant coffee along with her like it’s not that serious,” wrote one user .
“Given she was planning to get it that night for the next morning – either she planned to drink it cold, microwave it, or make it in the morning. If she planned to make it in the morning and it was that essential, she should have packed some,” echoed another.
