I don’t know who asked for a new horror movie that features Pooh Bear as a slasher terrorizing people, but it seems they’re about to get it with a Winnie The Pooh reboot called Blood and Honey .
At this point, we’ve all seen our share of remakes and reboots of popular franchises pass through the cultural zeitgeist. And while some are polarizing looks into how beloved characters are living a new chapter of their lives, others come across as attempts to right a franchise’s historic wrongs .

But of course, most of them are commonly derided as lazy and unnecessary cash-grabs that nobody can recall asking for . Yet since some of those remakes do well enough to make this backlash worth it, we never seem to run out of them.
However, it’s hard to tell what inspired the latest grim and dark take on the cherished Winnie The Pooh stories even with this reality in mind.
Recently, horror fans noticed a bizarre slasher movie involving Winnie The Pooh show up in the Internet Movie Database’s upcoming releases.
And while this was only described as a ” horror retelling of the famous legend of Winnie the Pooh” when Bloody Disgusting reported on it, it seems that IMDb entry has since been slightly more fleshed out to state , “It follows Pooh and Piglet as they go on a rampage after Christopher Robin abandons them.”
And while it’s expected to come out later this year, there’s no official release date and details about the movie in general seem scarce.
According to Newsweek , it’s not even entirely clear whether Pooh and Piglet are supposed to be human-animal hybrids in Blood and Honey or simply killers wearing masks.
But what we do know is that while Piglet and Pooh are back, they’re not doing anything you’d want to show the kids.
At this point, all we seem to have to go on are images like this that show Pooh wielding a sledgehammer over a woman that he and Piglet have abducted.
She’s likely the same woman we could see them looming over as she enjoyed her Jacuzzi, but it remains unknown whether they’re menacing her at random or whether she’s part of their apparent revenge plot.
Other than these shots from this abduction, we can a shot of the woman descending stairs to see “get out” written in blood on her windows.
Since we know so little about the project, there’s no way we could possibly answer why this strange reboot is happening.
However, we can tell you how it’s even possible for writer and director Rhys Frake-Waterfield to move forward on the movie without facing the wrath of Disney.
As you might imagine, they have no part of this film. However, that doesn’t matter because Newsweek reported that Pooh, Piglet and most of the other beloved Hundred Acre Wood created by A.A. Milne entered the public domain in January of 2022.
As long as none of these characters resemble Disney’s version of them, the media giant can’t do anything about Blood and Honey .
And since the production company Jagged Edge Productions has made similar horror twists on other public domain children’s characters like Humpty Dumpty and Jack and Jill, it’s likely that they were waiting to give Winnie The Pooh the same treatment.
