We only ever want the best for our loved ones, but sometimes the things we do can come across as less than helpful, especially if we do them in secret.
I once tried to surprise my little brother with a birthday party, but when I jumped up to yell ‘surprise!’, I may have accidentally given him a concussion.
Regardless of the outcome, I had good intentions, right?
A man on Reddit is facing a similar issue within his marriage.

He’s happily married, but every marriage has its problems. Comparatively, this problem is just a little crappier than most.
He recently became angry over a circumstance in which he feels his wife crossed the line.
He explained that he recently started the popular Keto diet, but has been experiencing some less than pleasant side effects.

Though the diet has given him “more energy and weight loss,” the lifestyle change has got him a little backed up .
He took fiber supplements in the hopes that things would start running smoothly once again, but he quickly became sick.
He checked the fiber capsules for diarrhea warnings, but didn’t find anything.

He even checked Amazon reviews to see if other customers had gotten similar reactions, but the fiber pills checked out squeaky clean.
He didn’t understand. What else could’ve caused such a sudden bodily reaction?
He frantically told his wife what was happening to him, but to his surprise, she started to laugh.

He began to ask her why she was laughing. What could possibly be funny about this situation?
Eventually, she admitted the truth: she might have put too much laxative powder into his protein shake .
Instantly, he was angry.

“I got so angry” he wrote, “I started yelling at her and she got defensive saying she was just trying to help me.”
He then asked the internet if he was in the wrong for being angry at his wife.
People had a variety of responses.

Some commenters honed in on the fact that if the husband’s diet was preventing him from pooping properly, he probably shouldn’t be on it.
Others mentioned that sneaking someone laxatives is a legitimate crime that can lead to real health issues.
But some people made the argument that the wife was only trying to help, and he shouldn’t have yelled at her.
“I’m never in favor of displays of temper and yelling,” one person wrote. “Never yell at a woman.”
On one hand, yeah, you shouldn’t yell at your wife when she had good intentions. On the other, she literally drugged her husband .
A good rule of thumb: Don’t sneak laxatives into people’s food.

Even if you are just trying to help them out. Communication and consent are the pillars of any healthy relationship.
We hope that this guy’s marriage turns out alright, but more importantly, we hope that he’s off the toilet.
