Sometimes, you just have to work with what you have. Even if what you have isn’t… well, let’s say ideal . But you know what? If it works, that’s the most important part.
And these things? They work. Somewhat. People used their minds to come up with the best solution at the time, and while that may be a bit odd, at least they work.
“My Dad ‘fixed’ my lawnmower.”
I feel like this is the kind of fix that won’t last forever. But it’ll at least last for a season, which is probably good enough. It may not be pretty, but if it works, then that’s got to make up for it. Right?
“My 4×4 inline trolley, when 2 wheels just ain’t enough.”
This… is actually kind of cool. It seems like it would be especially helpful for carrying super heavy loads, which is what these kinds of trolleys are built for anyway. It’d probably be less of a strain on your back, too.
“Lost my cork screw…”
I guess where there’s a will, there’s a way. This bottle isn’t going to open itself, after all. And short of just smashing the glass to pieces, getting liquid everywhere, this is probably the only option that’ll get it open.
Secretly genius, or just plain crazy?
“My friends way of fixing his head phones.”
It isn’t pretty (like, at all), but it works, probably. At the very least, it’s a (good?) way of prolonging the life of a pair of headphones that’s clearly on its last leg. The pencil for stability on the left side is a nice touch.
“I needed a little more coverage area out of my 250 watt space heater. Perfect.”
A part of me has to applaud this person for a genius-level solution to a pretty annoying problem. But at the same time, something about this seems a little… dangerous? I dunno, I just don’t think keeping anything close to a space heater is a good idea.
“Cheap defense against dust.”
Air purifiers are pretty great. They’re pretty expensive, too. This isn’t a perfect solution (and it isn’t a nice-looking one, either), but it’ll work. Mostly.
I’d still prefer an actual air purifier, but this is a close second. Or, maybe like a third or something.
“Furniture design with old race tires and a cooler lid to make table and bench.”
I mean, these are surfaces that people could use, which is always a plus. But. They look hideous, which is a minus. I get that function beats fashion, but why can’t we have both? It’s 2021, we have that kind of technology.
“There, I fixed it.”
See, at first, I thought it was just the bit of tape on the one end that was the fix. Then I noticed that the other side of this pair of glasses is being held up using a medical clamp thing. That’s… well, it’s an idea.

What is up with people and “fixing” things? Like, this one is less offensive than other strange “fixes” in the world, but it’s still so odd. The picture frame holders, mostly, if I’m being honest. The tape, surprisingly not that bad.
“I needed more storage.”
You know, they sell beds with storage drawers underneath. And they’d be a lot more comfortable (and a lot less precarious) than this.
I wouldn’t be trying to sleep on this bed. It doesn’t seem very stable. And it’s really high up for something that isn’t a loft.
When the lock on the trunk door just isn’t enough.
You have to wonder what happened to that door that it won’t close properly. Maybe there’s something in it that’s too big for the trunk? Or maybe the latch on the door broke somehow? Either way, it’s a pretty strange sight to see.

This is somehow both genius and horrifying. Like, everything about these pipes needs to be fixed. And yet, the way the drain extends to move water straight into the little hole works surprisingly well. I wouldn’t want that at my house, but I can respect it.
Let’s hope they cleaned it first.
Of all the things to use a plunger for, birdfeeder was not what immediately came to mind. Though, I’m sure the birds wouldn’t really care that much. Hopefully it’s clean, or better yet, has never been used to plunge a toilet to begin with.
“When you don’t have the correct extension.”
I mean, if it holds and can be used to drill normally, then is it really a bad idea? It may not be the most stable extension in the world, but it may just do the job. So this one can stay.

I’m not going to lie, the stitches on the seat of this plastic chair are actually hilarious. Especially since this is a chair made of plastic; it’s not like they’d be that expensive to replace. Plus, you wouldn’t have to worry about it breaking again.
“My door handle broke off today.”
That just sucks. But the solution is pretty clever, at least. I wouldn’t want to deal with that for the rest of my life, but it would make for a pretty good temporary fix until the car can go to the mechanic for a replacement.
“DIY bumper I found.”
I mean, there are worse things in the world. I doubt this piece of wood will last very long as a bumper, but it’s still objectively better than having no bumper at all. I think.
You know what? Let’s just stick to regular car bumpers from now on.
This boat that’s made out of plywood.
Do you think this is made out of one sheet of plywood, or are there a couple of them in there? I mean, either way, it’s a plywood boat. I don’t know how well that’ll hold up in water, but at least it’s cheaper than an actual boat.

Man, this unlucky dog got thwarted from its escape plans. But at least this’ll keep the dog safe – even if there’s a risk of passers by stopping to stare and laugh at the poor thing.

At some point, upgrading to a universal remote may be the better option. But this doesn’t not work, so I can’t really be too mad at it. You gotta work with what you have, after all.
