Is it just me or have the last couple of years shown a cultural shift towards appreciating animals that are a a bit weird? Like, a dog or cat’s worth is less about how cute they are and more about what makes them unique.
Even those with special needs seem to be getting the love they’ve always deserved.
I’m not saying there have never been plenty of people who loved and cared for all the delightful oddballs out there, but as a culture there seems to have been a shift.
Which means that there is a ton of new hope for a New Jersey husky with a very unique face.

The dog’s name is Jubilee and she was born cross-eyed.
With any breed, this would look a bit funny, but husky’s already have vibrant, striking eyes. So the fact that Jubilee’s are crossed really stands out.
It was her eyes making her “weird-looking” that caused Jubilee to be left at the Husky House shelter.

The “breeder” that dumped her said they didn’t want her because they couldn’t sell her. Which is a good reason why dog breeding needs much better oversight and regulation.
That was more than two years ago and Jubilee still hasn’t been adopted.

Whenever a potential family came to the shelter in search of a husky to adopt, Jubilee was passed over, or worse, made fun of.
Part of the problem is likely that when someone specifically goes looking for a husky, Jubilee doesn’t match the mental image.

And over the years, she’s become more shy as more and more humans laugh at or ignore her instead of loving her.
In hopes of finding her a forever home, Husky House shared her photo on their Facebook page .
And to their surprise, she went viral and now there are tons of offers.

She even has fan art now.
I’m sure that it will take some time for the staff to sort through and vet all the applications, but I’m even more sure that Jubilee will find the perfect home soon.
Husky House says that they don’t do long-distance adoptions, so Jubilee will be looking for a local home, but if you’d like to support the shelter, you can do so through their webpage .
