Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein’s downfall began in 2017 when a number of females came forward alleging that he had sexually assaulted them. Once the news came out, Weinstein was dismissed from his company and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as well. What followed was the birth of the #metoo movement where a number of females spoke out about the sexual assaults they had undergone from powerful men in their respective industries.
Sentenced in Los Angeles

The Victim Speaks Out

Naturally, reliving such an experience can be extremely traumatic even for the bravest. However, ‘Jane Doe 1’ made sure to get the last say and explain the irreparable damage that Weinstein had caused in her life with his actions. She said , “Harvey Weinstein forever destroyed a part of me that night in 2013 and I will never get that back. The criminal trial was brutal and Weinstein’s lawyers put me through hell on the witness stand, but I knew I had to see this through to the end, and I did. I hope Weinstein never sees the outside of a prison cell during his lifetime.”
Mounting Charges

Weinstein was initially found guilty of sex crimes in New York in 2020 where he was sentenced to 23 years in prison. Shortly after, he was extradited to Los Angeles where he is currently serving his term with more years shortly to be added on.
