Oh goodness me, it seems that the new Watchmen series will be dealing with some pretty controversial topics!
Well, get your Twitter fingers ready people, there will be a lot of complaining to be done!
‘Watchmen’

The comic book (or graphic novel, whatever) that became a movie is now becoming an HBO series, and Watchmen fans all over the world are saluting the sun in droves!
We’re going to do what we usually do when a brand spanking new series comes out

And that’s to tell you everything we know about it!
Are ya ready, kids?
Release Date!

Let’s begin, as all good articles about this subject matter should, by talking about when it will be out!
October 2019 is the apparent date of release for this series, so mark your calendars down!
The source material.

So this series is actually based on a 2009 movie directed by Zack Snyder that featured a lot of violence, crazy people and a surprising amount of blue wieners.
Nah, I’m just kidding…
It won’t be a retread of the original story, oh no, but in a remixed world where the original story took place.

So we’ll see Dr. Manhattan (briefly, probably) and Ozymandias, but they won’t be the primary characters.
Or at least…
That’s how the writer, Damon Lindelof, puts it in a very long letter he posted on Instagram that you can read below.
You know, if you have the time and patience.
We can expect some alternate history, some science fiction and all sorts of other things that aren’t really represented in media these days.

Especially the alternate history part, which many fans are really excited about.
It will also deal with white supremacy!

This is going to be a really hard subject to tackle, lest the writers of the series writer’s are beset upon by a legion of angry internet trolls.
There’s this group called the Seventh Calvary.

They dawn on Rorschach’s mask and start attacking police officers in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In response, the police also start wearing masks in order to protect their identities.
And there’s an interesting person in the office of president… none other than Robert Redford.

He’s played by… well, Robert Redford.
He’s there to tackle something people have yet to see…
As Lindelof puts it…

He’s “a well-intentioned liberal who stayed in power too long”.
Ooh, tackling the bad sides of both the left and the right. Well, this is bound to not be controversial in the least bit.
As for the cast…

We have Regina King, a recent Academy Award winner and the voice of Huey and Riley in The Boondocks , playing the lead.
Which, obviously, fans are really excited to see.
We have Jeremy Irons as Adrian Veidt (better known as Ozymandias).

But now older and for some reason still alive (even though he caused a huge disaster in the previous series, comic book or film).
And to name a few others…

We’ve got Tim Blake Nelson ( The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs ) as Looking Glass, Don Johnson ( Miami Vice ) as Chief Judd Crawford and Adelaide Clemens (_X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as Pirate Jenny.
Here’s the trailer.
So you can distinguish for yourself whether or not you’ll be watching this new series.
However, I can guarantee you one thing, folks: I will definitely be writing about it.
