It’s never easy to prepare for a role, regardless of the genre. While some require immense preparation to get into the character’s mindset, others require physical preparation. One such example is Lupita Nyong’o preparing for Wakanda Forever by taking intense swimming lessons.
Lupita Nyong’o Documented Her Intense Swimming Lessons
Lupita Nyong’o took to social media to show the swimming lessons she went through to prepare for her role as Wakanda spy, Nakia.
She trained for the role by using several underwater movements that required her to add a dumbbell on top of the resistance of the water. It takes strength to move a dumbbell underwater, let alone push yourself forward using it.
Her caption revealed that XPTLife and Mark Roberts helped her go through the training in a safe manner.
The ‘Wakanda Forever’ Actress Opened Up About Swimming Lessons
During an interview with Variety , Nyong’o spoke about how the swimming lessons have left her with a lifelong skill.
Her co-star Angela Bassett explained that “Black girls have this history with water and their hair.” Since water practically ruins all forms of hair setting, some girls choose not to swim at all to avoid ruining the “press and curl.” However, the swimming lessons to prepare for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have prepared them to swim anywhere!

While Marvel movies usually do well at the box office, the recent releases lacked the presence of a certain spark that gets Marvel fans giddy with excitement.
However, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever turned that around for the fans. This movie touched every chord in the heart, and the emotions portrayed in the movie are as raw as it comes.
Since the movie begins with the untimely demise of Wakanda’s rule T’Challa, the characters showed raw emotions since it mirrored real life. As it’s known, T’Challa was portrayed by Chadwick Boseman who passed away after battling cancer.
The cast did not need to force the grief of their loved one’s passing – they were living it.
Not only did the cast showcase the emotion on-screen, but the fans also couldn’t hold back tears and their emotions as well!
Will There Be Anymore ‘Black Panther’ Movies?

As heartbreaking as it is that Chadwick Boseman, the man who played the main character in the movies, passed away.. the show must go on.
However, the writers, cast, and others involved will take their time and understand how they want to move forward with it and who will take T’Challa’s place.
The third part of the movie may not be released until as late as 2026!
