A viral TikTok video has sparked a mix of outrage and sympathy as one woman’s birthday surprise from her husband left much to be desired. The video, showing the husband’s lackluster attempt at decorations, has not only amused viewers but also sparked a wave of hilarious commentary.
The video starts with the wife showing off the decorations.
This includes a haphazard array of streamers lazily draped across furniture and staircases.
One TikTok user watching the video couldn’t help but laugh, sarcastically stating,
“Decorated? Really?” as he tries to make sense of the chaotic scene.
While the husband did manage to hang a “Happy Birthday” banner and place a card with some flowers on the table.
It was the questionable placement of streamers that really caught everyone’s attention.
The man reviewing the video even joked,
“Them streamers might have pissed me off, personally.”
Even the wife seemed to find humor in her husband’s efforts.
She added a caption to her video that read, “The streamers on the couch,” followed by laughing emojis. Clearly, she was just as baffled as everyone else by the creative choices made by her spouse.
In a good-natured way, the TikTok reviewer tried to give the husband the benefit of the doubt.
He said, “It’s the thought that counts.”
And then he admitted.
Maybe, just maybe, the husband could have put in a bit more thought. A quick Pinterest, Google or TikTok search wouldn’t have hurt, after all.
Some viewers speculated that the husband might have thrown the decorations together at the last minute.

Others joked that perhaps the couple’s kids had a hand in the questionable décor,

“When she said her husband decorated, I saw was an aftermath of an underwhelming fraternity party,” she quipped. “It’s like he handed streamers to a large rodent and said, ‘Go for it, buddy.’”

Some people thought it was satire, but nope, it’s just men being men, she laughed. Another comment on her video read, “His decorating says, ‘I’m just a boy.’”
