Twitch Streamer Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter hinted at her 30-second cameo being cut out from A Minecraft Movie on April 6 during a stream. Still, she never gave an explicit reason as to why her cameo might have been removed.
The movie starred Jason Mamoa and Jack Black, and there are claims that what she said about Momoa might have been the reason her cameo was cut out of the movie.
It was supposed to be a 30-second cameo
“As much as you guys saw the other creators in it would have been the equal amount you saw me in it, which is like 30 seconds, so it’s like okay,” Valkyrae said in her stream concerning her appearance in A Minecraft Movie.
She didn’t blame Minecraft
“It’s not even Minecraft. It’s not even their fault. Don’t worry,” she said. As a matter of fact, she praised the movie, saying she “actually thought it was good.”
The movie was released on April 4.
Could it be related to her Momoa claims?
Six months before announcing that her cameo was being cut from the movie, Valkyrae made public claims against Momoa and his treatment of the crew on set.
She made these claims on a podcast with YouTuber JasonTheWeen when he asked her about her “worst celebrity or streamer experience.”
Her “worst celebrity” experience
While she didn’t have to name the celebrity, she did.
“I just saw him, like, mistreat some of the crew, and it was pretty disappointing. I do — it was after a very intense scene and a very emotional scene, so maybe he was still in character, I don’t know, but I was just kind of surprised by how he treated some of the crew,” she said of what she saw on set.
“It was just angry”
“He was just really mad at them that they weren’t doing something right. It was like setting up the shot and stuff. It was just angry. Like really mad and like yelling,” she added about Momoa.
“I was like ‘Man this is like not a good work environment, Iike, I would not be happy working under these conditions,'” she further elaborated.
She could have been sued
“I would much rather not have that 30 seconds than be sued, so it’s all good. It really was a wonderful 10 days in New Zealand for that 30 seconds and I’m really glad I got to visit New Zealand… I feel like things could’ve been so much worse. That’s all I’m gonna say about it,” she explained in her stream.
