If there is any true mark of becoming an adult, it’s having a collection of food storage containers. Many of us who have moved into our own place begin to fill our kitchen with items and know that containers are a necessity in all households.
I mean, where else are we going to store our leftover Chipotle takeout without it getting soggy in the fridge?
If you use containers, you’d know they’re not always so easy to clean

Depending on what you store in them, food containers can be a serious hassle to get completely clean. Whether you are washing your dishes by hand or using the dishwasher, sometimes, those stubborn stains can really cake on there and we even contemplate throwing the entire container away.
For example, when you store leftover pasta

If you’re anything like me, you make the entire box of pasta even though you know you’re not finishing it. So, you grab a container and dump in the rest of the rigatoni with marinara sauce to save for a rainy day.
But once you finish your leftover pasta a week later, you’re left with a container that’s pretty much stained red.
And, no matter how hard you scrub, it stays that way

No matter what scrub brush you use or what kind of soap, that grease stain seems to always be there, reminding you of the food that once was.
Eventually, we give up and end up going out to buy even more containers — but the cycle seems to always repeat itself after a while.
One TikTok user has finally come up with an incredible way to fix the problem we all have

Pressie shared a video where she showcases how she gets her clear, plastic soup container completely clean from the dingy yellow grease stains on the bottom. She showcased the container to her followers for reference to show how dirty it looked and was.
She said you only need three things: water, soap, and a paper towel

First, fill the container with water at the bottom. Then, put a dry paper towel into the container around the water’s bottom. Then, add some soap to the container, as well.
Once you have done that, put the lid on top

If you can find the right lid to match your greasy container, cover it and then begin to shake your container “vigorously.” Eventually, you’ll see the soap begin to suds up, and before you know it, the container will be missing that greasy stain you had scrubbed and scrubbed for months. All it took was a little elbow grease and some dancing.
To prove her point, the TikTok user emptied the container

To show the world that her hack really does work, she emptied the water and the paper towel into a bowl and then showcased how clean the container was with a little rinse. The once-yellow container with grease was now clean and shiny — ready to be used and stained again.
It’s pretty impressive, according to TikTok users

Jillu commented on the video saying, “The way I’m about to teach my mom how to clean Tupperware. How the turns have tabled.” Others said this is “life-changing” and they can finally stop throwing away their food containers from old greasy stains and sauce marks.
There’s a reason behind this hack, too
Although the original girl in the video wasn’t quite sure why it worked, people online knew why the paper towel was a game changer. “It’s because the tissue absorbs the grease as soon as it’s broken down not like when you just wash it,” another TikTok user shared online.
Clearly this is a win.
