I’ve got to admit that going to a job interview has always been my least favorite experience. That and a first date , ha, ha. I’m sure you have had your share of odd interviews that ended nowhere.
But a recent Twitter thread shows us that we’re definitely not alone. A woman recently asked people to share their worst job interviews ever and they responded in droves. Let’s check it out.
Amy Brown must’ve had some kind of job interview.
Afterward, she really needed some moral support, so she went to Twitter to ask people to share their horror stories. And, boy, did other souls respond. I’m going to share a few of their stories with you below.
Here’s One Odd Question
Apparently, an interviewer asked this: “List things you could do with a brick for the next 5 minutes.” Huh? What the heck does that mean? And better yet, what kind of job did they interview for to be asked that? Wow!
Fancy Some Ice Cream?
Okay, that sounds like fun, eh? Honestly, if I were in that situation, I would have eaten the ice cream first and then come up with some funny strategy. Why waste good ice cream? Am I right?
This Waste Of Time
Um, yeah, okay. Like that’s going to fly? I would have been so annoyed that they wasted my time. And honestly, I can’t stand when companies do that. At least be straight up.
This Inappropriate Behavior
Wow! I really don’t have words to comment on this. However, I will say that I find it very offensive and inappropriate to comment on someone’s appearance at a job interview.
This Interesting Outcome
Holy moly. You know I’ve always wondered this about companies. Perhaps they interview people for jobs that don’t even exist just to get ideas, and then they end up using them. I don’t think it’s very ethical, though. What do you think?
This Comfortable Situation
Been there, done that, and that’s what I call a “firing squad”. Those interviews are always so uncomfortable, and in the end, I don’t even remember what I said. This is a true story, I promise you.
This Social Media Outing
Seriously? All I can do is laugh at this. Like having a beer on your own time makes you ineligible for a job? Then they would probably have to fire half their staff. The good news is that this person is better off not working there.
This Crazy Interviewer
First of all, if you’re interviewing someone while you’re driving, I don’t think I want to work with you. And second of all, at least give the person the time of the day, so they can feel comfortable. This is a big no-no.
This Helping Hand
OMG! I wish I knew what this woman’s answer was. I honestly don’t know what I would have said, ha, ha. That is both crazy and ridiculous at the same time. I wish I were a fly on the wall in this room.
This Forced Bonding Moment
Okay, don’t take this personally, but this person was clearly trying to bond here. I guess this is how they’re treated by their family, so they were hoping they weren’t the only one. Aww, that’s quite sad, no?
This Interesting Ending
Wow! Well, to be honest, if it were me, I would have gotten up and said, “I already watched it” and walked out. I’m not wasting my time with something like this. I have better things to do.
This Awful Treatment
Ah, I feel so bad for this lady here. My guess is that she pretty much left this company and found a better one. One that treats everybody equally and does not discriminate based on gender and marital status. Oh, yeah!
This Obvious Sign
Haha, I would have been like, “Why didn’t you predict that?” This sounds like the kind of place I would love to know more about. I wonder what employees fit the job according to this interviewer.
This Abusive Behavior
Oh, come on! I’ve heard of some terrible interviews, but this one takes the cake, no? I wouldn’t have put up with it. That is just pure insanity. Imagine working for that person? Um, no, thank you.
This Stellar Response
Ha, ha. I couldn’t help but laugh. Confession time — I once mumbled so much at an interview I pretty much knew I wasn’t getting the job. But at least I didn’t mess up the interviewer’s name.
This Boys’ Club
OMG, can you believe that? Okay, truth be told, I have gone to a few interviews at law firms, and I definitely got that vibe, too. However, they didn’t flat out come out and say it to me.
This Hilarious Remark
Well, if they know what’s good for them, you would have been hired. Nobody wants to work for a place that has no sense of humor. Am I right? And if you can’t laugh at yourself, then life will be pretty boring, eh?
Boy, oh, boy!

I tell you, I hope I never have to be interviewed again. Ugh! It is the most uncomfortable situation if I can think of one. Even when I thought I nailed it, somehow, things didn’t go my way. Let me ask you: do you get nervous at interviews, or are you as cool as a cucumber?
