Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman has been one of the most highly anticipated movies this year, and it’s easy to see why. A mafia movie, directed by one of the best directors of all time, starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino — seems like a recipe for an amazing movie.
I didn’t know I would end up being more excited for some behind-the-scenes photos of Robert De Niro’s footwear.
It all started with this tweet.
It looks pretty normal, all things considered, until you click to expand the picture or scroll far enough down to see the monster platforms that De Niro’s sporting to give him the height needed to play the role.
People also pointed out that Pacino’s feet were weird in their own right.
Both his feet seemed to be pointing inward, not unlike the way Tommy Pickles stood on Rugrats .
Honestly, I don’t know who’s feet to look at here.
“Those ain’t his shoulders either,” one twitter user suggested.
For the record, De Niro is playing a person who existed in real life, and was 6’4, so adding the extra height makes sense.
It just looks silly.
“Their gangster names are, “Highrise” and, “The Pigeon,” joked one Twitter user.
“Between the shoulders and the shoes, he looks like three kids in a trenchcoat pretending to be Robert De Niro,” added another .
