The Grinch is one of the most iconic Christmas characters of all time. They’re not easy shoes to fill! So when I heard Glee star Matthew Morrison was taking on the legendary role for NBC’s “Grinch Musical” I was very intrigued.
Naturally, it has been an emotional rollercoaster ever since the first look was revealed.

I personally prefer the 1966 animated TV special over the 2000 Jim Carrey live-action retelling, but that’s just ME.
In case you forgot, there was a 2018 version of The Grinch as well, which was apparently pretty good???
Now, *The Grinch* is getting another retelling in a way we have NEVER seen before! Former “Glee” star Matthew Morrison will be starring in NBC’s “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Musical” on December 9th!
Fans got a first look at Matthew’s transformation earlier this week and WOW, it is GREEN!
“[I have] a little nose prosthetic that they put on to make it more pronounced, and then they actually put prosthetics over my eyebrows,” the actor explains of the nearly FOUR HOUR prosthetic process, according to People .
“Then we put the wig on. It’s a cool experience!”
“It’s really a beautiful thing to bring live theater into people’s living rooms,” he explained.
“I feel like I get to bring a lot of my dance background into this role, which I don’t think has really been done with the Grinch before.”
That is CORRECT, Mr. Morrison! We have never seen a Grinch with swivel hips like yours!
Naturally, social media had their *opinions* about the upcoming musical.
“this is one of the most terrifying things i’ve ever seen,” tweeted @hslotlindsey.
“Matthew Morrison as the Grinch is my sleep paralysis demon,” agreed @ParrishSal26 .
Is there a lot of talk about how we “deserve” this for all the sins of 2020? Perhaps. Do I agree? NO!
Will I be tuning in? ABSOLUTELY! Does that mean I’m not gonna have nightmares about this? HELL NO!
