The 45th and 47th President of the United States was at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Friday (March 14), answering questions from the press, when the big, fuzzy mic suddenly hit him. It grazed his mouth and slid across his face on live TV, and he even leaned back, trying to avoid it.

Usually, reporters use extended microphones in these kinds of interviews so they don’t have to get too close to the person speaking.
But this time, things didn’t go as planned. The mic ended up right in Trump’s face, and he did not look pleased.
Trump’s reaction and seven-word clap back
The 78-year-old wasted no time responding after the mic touched him. He hit back with a seven-word comment: “She just became a big story tonight.”
He followed up with: “She just made television tonight.”
His facial expressions revealed mixed emotions
At first, he seemed annoyed. But then his expression shifted. He glared at the reporter, raised his eyebrows, and then started laughing. He even turned to someone off camera and asked, “Did you see that?”
Outrage and conspiracy theories flood the internet
Social media, of course, went wild. One person wrote: “A reporter just HIT President Trump with a microphone. But 47 handled it like a PRO.”
Another questioned the security around him, saying: “How on earth did a reporter get that boom mic so close to Trump’s face? This just doesn’t seem right. Security should tighten up. Embarrassing for the press.”
Others were flat-out outraged: “President Trump was just smacked in the face by a reporter’s boom mic. Unreal these people. Have some respect.”
Some of Trump’s supporters started asking where the Secret Service was. But then things got even wilder, with conspiracy theories flying all over the place.
People speculated that the mic could’ve been “poisoned” or even “infected with the next pandemic.” One person went as far as calling it an attack: “This should be treated as an assassination attempt.”
Another added: “I am going to say yes. And if Trump mysteriously gets sick or has some medical situation then the boom mic was laced with something. That microphone should have been confiscated on the spot.”

A body language and behavioral expert, Darren Stanton, took a close look at Trump’s reaction and pointed out some subtle signs that he was trying to keep his anger in check.

According to Stanton, Trump’s face gave him away. His eyebrows tightened, his eyes hardened — classic signs of shock and irritation.
“Trump displayed a combination of anger, shock, and disbelief. It flashed across his face for just a second,” he explained.
The lip bite that revealed his true emotions
Stanton also noticed Trump biting his lip for a brief moment. He said this is often a sign of ‘someone trying to hold back their rage.’
“He was about to draw breath but then bit his lip, almost biting back the rage. It appeared to be an instinctive reaction coming from a place of anger,” Stanton said.
Trump’s pride probably made it worse
The expert pointed out that Trump isn’t the type to laugh things off easily, especially when it makes him look bad.
“He is a very proud man and it made him look a bit silly,” Stanton noted. “You can also see the tightening of his eyebrows and the hardening of his eyes. This shows he was thrown off his train of thought and that the disruption made him very angry.”
The clip of the moment quickly went viral, with some people saying Trump took it well, while others slammed the reporter for the clumsy mistake.
