Donald Trump just made a change in the Oval Office, swapping out the famous Resolute Desk for a different one. The switch happened not long after Elon Musk and his 4-year-old son made a White House visit.
Trump swapped out the Resolute Desk after a viral White House visit
It’s been a little over a week since Musk and Grimes’ son, X, stole the spotlight in the Oval Office. Now, Trump says he’s using a different desk for a bit.
The 4-year-old was spotted picking his nose next to the US President
Back on Feb. 12, Trump held a press conference at the White House with Musk, who’s now one of his senior advisers. The topic? The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
But the moment that really got people talking wasn’t policy—it was Musk’s 4-year-old son standing between his dad and the president, casually digging for gold right there at the Resolute Desk.
Trump didn’t really say WHY he’s changing this desk
“A President, after election, gets a choice of 1 in 7 desks,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Feb. 19. He explained that the desk he’s using now, the “C&O,” was also used by George H.W. Bush and a few others.
The Resolute Desk is just getting some “light refinishing.”
The Resolute Desk and Trump’s long-standing relationship
Trump’s had a thing for the Resolute Desk for a while. He used it all through his first term and has been using it again since his second term started in January. He’s even signed executive orders on it. But for now, it’s getting a little ‘touch-up’.
Trump, the self-proclaimed germophobe, had nothing to say about it
Trump, who’s been pretty open about being a germophobe, didn’t react to the nose-picking moment (at least not publicly). Instead, he had nothing but nice things to say about the kid.
“This is X, and he’s a great guy—high IQ,” Trump told reporters at the start of the event. “High-IQ individual.”
Musk’s White House visit came right before MAJOR baby news
That same week, conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair announced she had recently given birth to Musk’s 13th child. Although Musk has yet to publicly acknowledge this claim.
Trump insists the new desk is just a temporary fix
Trump didn’t really explain why he switched desks, but he did make one thing clear—it’s not permanent. He called the new one a “beautiful, but temporary replacement.”
