For most of us, music is a pretty important part of life. But for Anthony Sheriff, known better as Sheriff Drumman to the people of Los Angeles, it’s a lot more than that.
It’s his whole life.

Which is why having his truck — which housed his custom-built drumkit — stolen, was a devastating blow to the musician.
Sheriff Drumman is a well-known LA-based drummer and musician.
His claim to fame is his incredible truck, onto which he built a drumkit himself, all for the purpose of being able to play while driving around the city.
And boy, did he travel around a lot.

Charging around $300 an hour, Drumman was still performing regular gigs around the city during the height of the pandemic. For many neighbors, he was an important source of joy during tough times.
But all that changed when his truck got stolen.

Recently, Sheriff awoke to the sight of his truck stolen — absent from its regular parking spot. Devastated, he was frantic, telling the LA Times that he had a panic attack.
“I fainted in front of my neighbors.”

“I started screaming, I was calling for help like someone had shot me. It felt like the devastating news of a loved one being murdered,” he said.
Having something so precious taken away like that definitely isn’t easy, especially when it’s also the key to your art and livelihood.
Sheriff immediately took to social media for help
In his Instagram video, he emotionally asked his followers to help him find his truck. He also opened a GoFundMe , with the aim to help replace the stolen drums and equipment.
Though his truck was eventually found and returned, the drumkit was long gone.
His community came to his help.

Upworthy reported that the GoFundMe has raised almost $20 thousand so far, showing the absolute love and respect Sheriff’s community has for him.
And they aren’t the only ones who helped out.
That’s right. Metal group Metallica reached out to the musician, providing him with a brand new drumkit. It just goes to show you that music has no bounds.
Sheriff Drumman may not be performing at his regular capacity just yet.
But he’s definitely bouncing back, one performance at a time. His community and fans can’t wait for him to be smiling and drumming around town again.
