You might know her as precocious Ramona Quimby in the iconic Ramona and Beezus . You might know her as endearingly awkward Elle Evans in Netflix’s The Kissing Booth (and upcoming The Kissing Booth 2 ).
You’re definitely about to know Joey King as Gypsy Rose Blanchard in Hulu’s The Act , because she’s just been nominated for an Emmy award.
‘The Act’ details the real life murder of Dee Dee Blanchard by her daughter and her boyfriend.

Dee Dee Blanchard famously faked serious lifelong illnesses for her daughter, Gypsy Rose, who eventually rebelled from her mother’s control to plan her murder with her boyfriend.
Joey has received tons of praise for her role as Gypsy.

Calling her work on The Act “the most fulfilling and challenging work” she’s done so far in career, Joey posted an emotional video on her Instagram of herself breaking down in tears as she learns she’s nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy award.

Patricia Arquette, Joey’s co-star on ‘The Act’, was nominated for her work on the show as well as for a separate performance.

“To be nominated for an Emmy in a category with such INCREDIBLE nominees by my side, especially Patricia is the most surreal feeling. I haven’t stopped crying.”
In the video, Joey immediately FaceTimes her mom in tears.

She writes that she also called her on-screen mom Patricia Arquette afterwards as well, saying, “Gettin to call Patricia right after and share this moment with her is something I’ll never forget.”
Joey gave a shout-out to the rest of the cast and crew of the show.

“Thank you to everyone who made this possible, there’s so many people who are behind The Act that I couldn’t have done this without and I can’t wait to call all of them!!!!”
Joey’s post ended with appropriate excitement.

She ended her post with a passionate, “OH MY GOD I CANT BELIEVE IM NOMINATED FOR AN EMMY.” Her co-stars have tweeted in support, including Patricia Arquette.

But be warned — it’s definitely a tear-jerker. I think deep down we all just want to cry with our moms when something amazing happens to us.
