The year is coming to an end with the tragic death of the young Baby Driver star, Hudson Joseph Meek, only aged 16.
He died on December 21 in Alabama, with his death catching everyone’s attention due to his age and the circumstances surrounding his death.
His death is under investigation by Vestavia Hills police.
The cause of death
According to the NBC affiliate WTVM report and the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Meek sustained injuries due to blunt force trauma.
He fell from a moving vehicle at around 10:45 p.m. two days prior to his death and was in the UAB Hospital afterward, where he passed away.
The released statement
The family released a statement on the deceased’s Instagram, saying: “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
They want to celebrate his life

They continued in the statement, saying: “Specific details regarding a Celebration of Hudson’s Life to be held on December 28, as well as how to contribute to a scholarship in Hudson’s memory at Vestavia Hills High School in lieu of flowers, will follow.”

Meek was born on August 5, 2008, to his parents, Derek Firth Meek and Lani Wells Meek. He was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School and was on the school’s football team.
Baby Driver may be his most well-known contribution to the acting industry, but the teenage star has also appeared in MacGyver, Found, and The School Duel.

According to the obituary, Meek “became a certified open water scuba diver at 13 years old and followed that up with an advanced open water certification later that year.” He also loved snow-skiing, so much so he would take trails none of his family would ever dare step foot in.
He was “one of a kind”

His obituary read: “Hudson’s personality was one of a kind. He was confident, convicted in his beliefs, spontaneous, and quick-witted. He never let the facts get in the way of a funny story, and he loved friendly banter. He was a prankster, loved a good joke, and was happiest when he was making others laugh.”
He was a man of faith

Meek never gave up on Christianity and Jesus Christ. He lived for Bible Study meetings, youth retreats, mission trips, and just being at church. He specifically enjoyed his time gathering with his football teammates for Bible Study at the home of Coach Buddy Anderson.
He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten

Meek is survived by his parents, Derek Firth Meek and Lani Wells Meek; his older brother, Tucker Firth Meek; his grandmothers, Margaret Green Meek and Faye Searcy Wells; and other family members, friends, and loved ones.
